Corey Pronman ranks the Flames’ prospect pool at 21/32.

The difference between 2024 and 2025 1st is "super delayed".
If you really want a re-build - you are going to have to exhibit more patience.

Fair, I should have said re-took and not rebuild. I’m fine if the late pick is attached to a decent younger player but DeBrusk + a 26th 1st and Fabbro + a 25 1st would be pretty painful. Especially if there are conditions that can push the picks a year. It’s the worst version of the something for now and something for later re-tool trades. If the Flames actually tore it down then less fussy when the picks are but I’m still not expecting that.

Andersson interview on 32 Thoughts (1:08:00)
Andersson speaks like a captain here, he kind of gives Weegar's captaincy campaign a run for his money. He expects Huberdeau to rebound, and everyone to embrace the chaos. Points that the team was trying not to lose games instead of going out and winning them. Thinks of Backs as the captain last year.

Much Rather someone like Glass, Afanaseyev, Svechkov, Kemmell, Wood, Kiiskanen, Ufko.
There's probably better packages they can put together.

Fabbro is as vanilla as you can get. I don’t think the word “potential” applies anymore, either.

Conroy could well be playing chess by doing that. Giving the owners what they want, a chance to compete with this stellar lineup. When that does not work he has picks lined up for the rebuild that will happen in 2-3 years anyway when you are loaded with players in their 30’s.

I've been told the Flames have zero appetite to wait until the trade deadline to trade Hanifin, as well as Lindholm if he doesn't sign. There is an internal deadline to take the best deal available before the quarter season mark on those two players. The others will likely be deadline deals if it comes to that. Seems like outside of the question mark around Lindholm, and Hanifin's decision, there is confidence in ability to re-sign other UFAs pending season progression.

Pretty much wrote off Pelletier as nothing in that as well. One guy doing these things is going to end up as a lot of stat tracking.

This makes sense, and if there is a deadline they certainly wouldn't talk about it publicly.

I’m not sure how many teams will have the cap space at that stage of the season and the desire to take on what will likely be at that time rentals.
