What policy is the CPC proposing to lower the cost of food?
If your answer is going to be remove the carbon tax you’ll have to explain how that is going to force the grocery stores to actually lower their prices rather than keep them where they’re at and reap the additional profits.

I mean I figure the last thing you’d want is for more moderate CPC supporters to begin to question why they support the same party as someone who also thinks it’s a good idea to get drunk and post transphobic innuendo on a message board.
Kind of an “Are we the baddies?” type scenario.

Hopefully we get to find out if it works. Because what we have now definitely isn’t working.

I make money on the carbon tax, so as long as they keep paying me, we should keep it. Thanks #truckbros for the cash!

So they're going to lower government revenue and reduce spending? Okay, on what specifically. And remove some regulations around food? What could possibly go wrong? Also, it doesn't address why food growth is at it's highest in 40 years and why inflation is so high, AROUND THE WORLD. They make is sound like this is something unique to Canada and somehow the Liberals fault that food in Spain and inflation in Turkey is high. It's more half-truths and sound bites. This isn't a plan, this is a bumper-sticker.
Of course, the most dangerous part of the plan is the dollar of savings for every dollar spent. What exactly does this mean for the highest cost items in the budget like Healthcare and Social Security?

What happened there?
Once they announce the election the Libs will run an ad showing PP giving olive branches to Freedumbers and Ontario will drop the NDP and go back to the Libs.
Sucks to nominate a deplorable leader doesn't it?

2 years. We are still 2 years from an election. NDP support unlikely to wane in the near future.

Tax hikes, not cut taxes. I might be wrong but I'm assuming this primarily refers to rolling back the increases this year in EI and CPP contributions.

Who pays for the deficit in the EI Account then? Does the government take different tax dollars from consolidated revenue and make up the difference or does the government just cut back on social safety net experiences and reduce EI benefits?

I think most people here would love for JT to resign and new leadership take over the liberals roughly 2 years out from an election.

Don't know and I don't really know the state of the program. I think I previously saw that the program is currently in deficit because of pandemic subsidies but I don't know how healthy it was previously. If the deficit is a one-off, rare occurrence it should be made whole from general revenue or something.

EI premiums are still well below (about 13% lower) they were when the Liberals came into power and about 40% lower than they were 25 years ago, so I don't really understand that. Particularly given that the increase in premiums for 2023 represents about $50/year (assuming you earn enough to max out EI contributions).
As for CPP, what's that really going to achieve? We already have some of the lowest social security contributions in the industrialized world (even the US has higher contributions than we do to Social Security). OAS is the real elephant in the room, and a more robust CPP would allow them to potentially scale back OAS down the road.
To be fair, we're not in an election so you can't expect fully fledged plans, but those are some pretty terrible policy ideas.

Yeah man, that extra $1.92 I pay to EI every paycheque is really making inflation run rampant.

I think they're relevant enough to have the party considering if JT should be leading them into the next election.
You have to think a lot of internal discussions are going on about leadership.
