Is it Spurs, or is it the fact that most of the NHL's management are on summer vacation?

Go read the Tom Wilson contract thread where someone had to do a drive-by of Kadri. So yes, it happens. Notice I said "you" as in the user I was responding to. You're just overly negative everytime you post.

Huska mentioned Hanifin as a player be thinks they can sign.
So I wonder if he's still on the market or have they tamed the trade talks and want to bring these guys into camp.
Hanifin was my #1 target to keep if he wanted to stay I think his best hockey is ahead of him.

I would trade Hanifin straight across for Cody Glass. He’s on the cusp of great things.

I mean I would love the classic 1st and two 2nds but those trades for Hamilton and sigh Hamonic had that cost because both players came cost controlled and with term. Hanifin is a good player, a top pairing guy on some teams but he will get a sizeable raise next off season.
Winnipeg and Nashville are set to miss the playoffs again, so two of those picks look like they will be above 45th OA, the third 2nd is the Oilers which could land anywhere.
Having four picks in the second round next year would give the Flames a ton of flexibility.

You can disagree with some of these if you like, but saying "there isn't any sign of hope, at least for the next 5 years" has to be a troll job, because it certainly isn't rational.

It's not no hope. It's "all" hope. We have to hope everything unproven works out. The rookies, gm, coach. Bounce backs from Huberdeau, Mangiapagne, Kadri, Kylington, and Markstrom. And we need the rookies to explode to even have a chance at a playoff spot. Anyone being optimistic right now is insane!
We lose our 2 superstars in Johnny and Tkachuk. After not being close to good enough in the playoffs. Replace with Huberdeau who was ass all season. Weager who is legit. And Kadri who seemed to quit.
So we were way worse than the year before we weren't close to good enough. So I have to say, anyone having high Hope's for next season doesn't understand or follow this team.

Man.. So much doom and gloom. The Flames missed the post season by 3 freaking points (Accounting for the tie breaker with the Jets). THREE. They get even barely league average Goaltending and they are in and maybe even go a round or two. It's not even close to as bad as some people make it out to be.

Just missing the playoffs is the worst position to be in.
Our target is to be a bubble team now? That’s our goal? We hope to be first round fodder?
If you want to counter with “Florida just got in!”, okay - go look at Florida’s roster, their age, and their contracts and tell me the differences.

Our top line Center doesn't want to be here or play with our $10.5M a year top line LW who will never score 20 goals/yr in 1 year of that 8 year contract. We replaced our top line RW with someone that was benched in the playoffs. But he'll get 30? Lindholm knows hes #### and were ####ed. Everyone will want out by the deadline. And you can take this to the FN bank!

Lol. Easy there nostradamus.
I like that the expectations are low though. Let that be a trend.

Nobody is targeting a bubble team. He's just stating facts. If Markstrom had a !little better season we would've been in the playoffs. Now, if Huberdeau, Markstrom, and Mangiapane bounce back, coupled with a boost from some of our younger forwards. We could be challenging for the division.

Don't know how ppl have overly positive views or overly negative.
Or going off with predeterminations before a single practice has been had.
I don't know whats going to happen with the Flames this year, but I'm gonna watch it.
IMO, there plenty of positive intrigue with the roster as is. The availability of roster spots for young up and coming players is a big one. Who's going to earn a job! That itself makes for fun viewing.
Who going to bounce back? Someone? Nobody? Some?
What trades will be made?
From an outside perspective , there's so much unfinished roster building work to be done. I don't see how ppl can be definitive one way or the other.
Just have fun with it. At the very least, shut up and let others have fun.
