Detroit might be interested so I could be wrong but IMO they really aren't a good fit for Hanifin. D right now is the least of their concerns. It's by far their strength and they will need to extend Mo pretty quick here.

They could use Lindholm over Hanifin. Raymond, Larkin and Debrincat are hands down their best forwards. If Raymond doesn't step up to his rookie year form, they could be looking at 1 real 1st line player in Larkin and he is borderline 1st liner too.

Do we know the teams on Hanifin's no-trade list?

I thought I read he was open to any trade to help the team since he won't be signing,

Hanafin said that he prefers the states, which is code for saying that is where he would sign an extension.

But he won’t sign an extension with just anyone.

Nice to see some Sec OJ. I just hope at least one of Hanifin or Lindholm is delt before the season stars

I’m hoping they keep Lindholm. Sounds like they are trying.

Sounds like they aren’t trying to keep Hanifin. Hopefully they can get something decent for him.

The goalie situation is the other mess.

They did want to keep Hanifin you don't try to keep someone who said they would rather be traded.

Hanifin is a player they could stomach dealing away, since they've brought in Weegar who can handle significant minutes (certainly more than the role he had last season) and Kylington has reentered the picture.

Dealing Lindholm would all but put them securely in rebuild territory, as they would be hard pressed to be a playoff team without a 1C, or any definable first line at all (since there is barely one WITH lindholm there).

As much as I'd be leary about another 8 year contract north of 8, if the team wants to remain in the playoff picture while they retool as per the Edwards directive, they've got to find a way to keep Elias here.

The hope is to keep your legitimate 1 and 2 centers intact and build around them with fresh talent and hope the likes of Coronato and eventually Honzek can grow into top 6 roles.

Hanifin coming with an 8 year extension (as reported is on the table), you'd hope would bring in around that. Flames should be offering retained salary to sweeten.
I think getting a 1st is more likely than getting a team's top prospects.

The last intel I have gotten on Lindholm is that both sides want to get a deal done still. I think this is both sides trying to holdout as long as possible for the best deal they can get. I think as we get closer to training camp things will heat up and I suspect a deal will be agreed upon.

Put me in the camp to retain Lindholm. Ever since Dubois got traded and no player like Byfield/Wright/other top centers are on the market, may as well pay Lindholm his money and factor in Backlun’s cap hit and his to equal out his pay raise. Make a youngster beat out Kadri and Lindholm in a few years for the top 6 center spots.

What youngster are we going to get that is going to turn this organization into an elite team while we perpetually draft 13th-20th? Spending money on Lindholm just because Lindholm is the only thing we’ve got now is just short sighted, impatient management.

If we sign Lindholm to an 8 year, $8-$9M AAV contract, I have very little doubt in saying that at this time next year we’ll be sitting here concerned about the contract and making excuses for why Lindholm only scored 55-65 points (on a non-playoff team).

Let people freak out over "C Depth". It's true, It wins but... A lot of these 2000's kids can take draws. They practice it over and over and over. Just like puck skills.

You need two above average C. One for the offensive zone and one for the D Zone. The rest are 60-40, 50-50 all night. A bad night is sub 40%.

What to do when you win and lose the draw is where the game is won and lost.

Detroit and Buffalo are 2 of the few teams that may be willing and able to deal one of their young studs for an older player, simply because they have enormous wealth when it comes to top-tier prospects. That said, I can't see any way we're getting an elite blue-chipper like Edvinsson. That would almost be like trading Seider for them, as Edvinsson is a future top-pairing D.

I would be fine getting only 1-2 assets in a trade for Hanifin (as opposed to the standard 3 assets of young roster player, prospect, pick), if it means upgrading the talent we're getting back. Hell, I would trade Hanifin straight across for Jack Quinn, even with the injury.

Ill post more info as I get it.
Detroit, Rangers, Sabers, Carolina are the 4 teams most interested in trading for Noah to date. I believe Rangers are the team who made the offer (NO KAPPO, OR ALEXIS BUT..). Boston and Florida are "around" but low balling.

Flames are working on an extension with Big Z, I've herd Flames interested in *3-4 Years "at or around Tanev's CHIT". His camp believes he can duplicate his offensive stats...

I'm not talking about going out and getting heavyweight fighters, but everybody knows that the playoffs are much tighter, chippier, and more physical than the regular seson- that's why playoff teams go hunting every year for players with size, strength, and snarl. You need pushback, and players who can wear down the other team, as well as win battles. It can't come at the expense of speed and scoring- that's not what I'm saying, you still need those things above all else.

Outscoring your opponents is pretty hard when you're losing puck battles, and never have posession of the puck because you're being "pushed around". This is just facts, folks- and NHL scouts and GM's know this. Speed and skill are #1, but you also need size and physicality.

If it’s the rangers and neither Kappo or Alexis are involved… I guess I would look for something like this:

To Rangers:
Noah Hanifin

To Flames
2024 1st round pick (lottery protected)
2024 2nd round pick
Brennan Othman or Gabriel Perreault
Will Cuylle

If it’s Carolina, I would look for something like this:

To Carolina:
Noah Hanifin (30% salary retention for this season; signs extension with Carolina)

To Calgary:
2024 1st round pick (lottery protected)
Noel Gunler
Alexander Nikishin
