According to this old italian guy who lives a block away, and who's lived in his house since the '50s, the neighbourhoods between Nose Hill and Confederation Park/Confed golf course use to be a slough, and there's an underground spring in the area.

I knew about the horse pasture that was replaced by a development in the late 80s, right off Northmount Dr., but not about the spring. And I haven't verified or tried to fact check anything the neighbour says, but I have no reason to doubt him (despite the fact he paints his trees with lime wash, which seems like it should be a red flag)

It's an underground spring basically because we confined water flow and forced it to be one. Mcknight used to be a creek flowing into it before we paved it. Some good pages here if you are interested:

If you're bored, get some hot habanero Mcnugget sauce and add it to it.

Does the city have any organic drop off bins similar to the recycling ones usually around home depots? City website only mentions getting extra bags but I have some long branches and bushes that won't fit in bags short of chopping them up

It's my favorite burger there! Stick to the single and get extra tartar sauce. The double has a poor bread to fish ratio.

Enticing? I suppose it’s possible peoples olfactory systems interpret odours differently.

You can take them to the dump, it says charges apply but I remember dropping it for free if it is just clean compostables.

Somewhere out there, destiny is possibly saying, "Save the fish consumption for when you're surrounded by them in Cape Breton."

I don't know what destiny has in store for you for the extra calories though.

Barbecued salmon on tin foil. Kid enjoys it, almost too much.

He finished the salmon then peeled the skin off the tin foil and ate that too! He says it tastes great.

Anyone else do that?

If the skin is crisp, it’s tasty. If not, I might throw it under the broiler for a minute to crisp up. No need to waste it.

Anyone have a method for keeping mosquitos out of the house? They follow us through the door. We killed eight in our bedroom last night. Maybe spray around the door? Turn off outside light perhaps.

Those cheap dollar store zapper racquets are fun and effective. Not so much on flies that get through. If you manage to actually hit one, they are only stunned for a few seconds.

I get maybe not checking the suspiciously heavy bag, but at what point when they were handing you three drinks you didn't order did you go "Yep, this seems right"?

quick pass port question,

Can any citizen who has known me for the last two years and has a valid pass port be my guarantor, or does it need to be a notary?
