I hadn't realized how good google earth has gotten, looking at my neighbourhood on it is freaking me out. The images look like they could have been taken today.

I think it's closer to 6 months to a year behind. But yeah I understand the sentiment. I only can identify this because the car color in the driveway is my previous car that I sold in early January. Also ####ing bonkers that there's a blurry pic of either a water table or inflatable pool in my back yard that we used last year.
I always assume they're always watching and listening, but to see it like that is ####ing weird.

The satellite view on Google Maps for my area is August 2021. Google Earth has August 2022. Google Streetview is June 2023, but the previous one is April 2021. It's definitely not as frequent as 6 months.

I'm saying for mine it looked like it was 6 months to a year behind on Google Earth. But I double checked and it does look like my time stamp is showing July 11 on Google Earth.
I don't know about Street view as of June 2023, but I do recall seeing a car drive around that time period or a couple months earlier.

I think Google will update certain areas in Earth if you request it.

Streetview tells you the date in the top right, and you can change dates there.
Google maps doesn't tell you the imagery date, so you have to find it in Google Earth and compare which date they are using.

Haha! So, this inspired me to check my place in our cul-de-sac. I went to Google Maps, and dropped the little photo guy at the start of it. "Walked" him around and it was all looking good, until I hit one part of the circle, and it was my old house and car (from early 2019).
Every other shot/angle was pretty recent with both vehicles and the new siding...but that ONE shot/angle was from 2019.

Hey is there a giant underground water storage situation in Calgary somewhere? Like maybe under a golf course? I have this vague memory of something like that existing but I can't find anything online about it.

There's probably a few - I know there's one in Edgemont - the big hill/park off John Laurie and 53rd St.

Does anyone remember a store called Tramps at southland crossing in the 90's? It was like used CD's/movies/video games and stuff like that.
I was driving by today and after like 20 years of never thinking of it once I just suddenly remembered that me and my friends had worked for them with that ridiculous job they had where like 5-6 kids a day would walk up and down Mcleod in front of the mall with huge sandwich board style signs roped around you, promoting their store.
Anyone else ever do that? Or even remember the store?

There are several underground cisterns around the city, and lots of them have parks or athletic fields on top of them because you essentially can't do anything else with the land. You might be thinking of Richmond Green, which the City ceased operating as a golf course but have no plans to do something with other than park space of some sort because it's sitting on top of two big cisterns and a pump station.

I absolutely remember Tramps. I used to go there all the time to buy used CD's. I remember they had a CD "restoration" service if your CD was all scratched up or skipped all the time, I never used it because it sounded like BS. I can't remember what they charged for it...
