I'd wager that he is significantly closer to 90 points than he is to 55 assuming he's healthy. I'd put good money on him being in that 0.95-1.10 pt/s game range.
The guy had just 15 PP points last season.. despite pacing for 36.5 on the man advantage the previous 4 years.. Correcting that alone puts him at just under a point a game pace, and that's not even taking into account all of the other areas of the game in which Darryl completely underutilized Huberdeau's skillset.

80-90 points or else for Huberdeau
Theoretically he should be able to do that

It's all down to the style of play and if he can get chemistry with someone finally. The talent is there. Just giving him more minutes rather than rolling 4 lines hell or high water will make a difference to.

So how can a healthy player (Murray told the media during the playoffs he was 100% healthy) go on LTIR. Does the player have to sign off on that?

League is a joke, especially when it comes to certain franchises

How do we know he’s healthy now?

It's almost as if people can get injured or re-injure themselves even though the NHL season is over. I always thought they cryogenically froze the players and thawed them out before preseason. But they are allowed to function in the offseason I guess.

Just seems kind of fishy to go from being healthy 8 weeks ago to going on indefinite LTIR just in time for the cap space to be needed

Lol, you can't be serious
It's amazing how often players teams need to be injured just happen to get injured
I know you are a Leafs fan but you are making yourself sound dumb here

Just a tad...the guy everyone knew the Leafs wanted and needed off the books. Amazing the star players never get injured doing nothing it's always the overpaid bums

This is Matt Murray we are talking about. Look at this most recent concussion against the Wings. It was bad. He slammed the back of his head against the ice. I think he's had 6 concussions. I'm sure he could play but he's likely sick of getting injured all the time and he likely is hurt.

He has such a clean bill of health too. Never expected him to be injured.

Players aren’t good at assessing their own health
Is the theory here that he is faking it or the team is forcing him to pretend he’s injured? Is that really the theory?

He was "good to go" in the playoffs, but he wouldn't be the first player to hide an injury in the playoffs.
It's certainly a little suspicious, but playing through an injury seems equally likely.

Well he is owed 8m this season. Would it really be a surprise if it was his choice to go on LTIR and collect it all rather than being bought out and losing 2.7m?

I believe the player has to agree to LTIR.

Plus, if any is covered by insurance, you can assume they’ll look at it closely.

If Markstrom starts off the season the same as last season it would be helpful for him to go on the LTIR.
