I don’t see how that package has any value to to the Flames now or in the future.
That would be a terrible return for Lindholm. Would open the door for every GM to walk all over Conroy.

I'm not joking. From a bruins perspective I could see that offer. I didn't see what you thought might be reasonable.
Also, to be fair, I thought they still had their 2024 2nd.

Yeah from a Bruins perspective I could see them offering that.
That doesn’t mean it’s fair though. I think Conroy would be crazy to accept that.
To be honest I don’t really see any reasonable options from the Bruins. They are looking to compete now so probably aren’t willing to deal substantial roster players and they can’t really make a futures deal since they have basically no picks in the next two drafts and one of the worst prospect pools in the league.
They are a terrible trading partner for the Flames regarding Lindholm.

I'd want DeBrusk in pretty much any deal for Backlund. Might even do it 1-for-1, provided they could get DeBrusk on a reasonable extension.

What are we going to do with another winger?
Is Coronato ready to play C?

If they dealt backs and lindholm , and moved dube and corontato to center, what a seismic shift that would be.

I don't really care about positions at this point. Flip Dube, if you must. Or you could just put him at centre, as suggested above. DeBrusk is probably the most valuable piece you could get from Boston, by a decent margin too.

Well maybe you don't, but the team needs to.

Sorry, I was being glib. What I meant is that I don't care about targeting certain positions in a trade. I certainly wouldn't be inclined to pass on a player of DeBrusk's calibre just because he's a winger. I think the forwards the Flames do have already are versatile enough that they'd be able to make all kinds of different combinations work, so I wouldn't object to acquiring either a centre or a winger in a Backlund deal. Just get the best player you can.

Glib is a good word in written form, but doesn't translate as positively into speech. It's weird that way.
I think the reason I usually think of Carlo when Boston is involved is because I think that it creates a buffer for hanifin moving. Carlo, debrusk and lysell for lindholm with hanifin moving for futures to facilitate the cap, work for everyone?
Call it in.

I'd want DeBrusk just so Louie feels a burning sensation being an Oilers guy.

Doesn't work for the Flames. They believe the team can compete, why would they do this? The Flames will do everything they can to sign Lindholm but if they can't I would imagine they will want a C back.

But they aren't that versatile (without Lindholm and Backlund), and team structure matters. If the Flames traded centers for wingers, and then had Dube or Coronato or whoever playing C, they would (rightly) be criticized for building a flawed team.
Players aren't hockey cards or horses, you can't just make as many trades as you feel like. And you can't just acquire assets randomly - there has to be a purpose and an end product.

Gryzecyk would have trouble cracking the lineup on a consistent basis.
If we were to trade Lindholm or Hanifin to Boston I would want Zacha plus Lysell.
Nothing fancy with no picks (they don't have anything anyway).
Zacha can play centre, is huge and strong on the powerplay in front of the net and has really become a solid second line player with Boston. He is also signed to a fair deal and would be around for a while.
We are downgrading with Lindholm being the better player but he isn't signed long term.

I just don't think Boston works as you would get a better return at the trade deadline.

Typically these trade ideas on a fan board are "My garbage for your good players".
Some of these trade suggestions lately are "Our good players for your trash".
Is it bizarro week?
