Kadri with his size and simple skill should be getting 65-70 points for him not to be a disappointment, when he's paid what he is and he's getting top minutes. I feel strongly about that.

Because if all of a sudden, this team is playing great hockey again and winning, players like Lindholm, Backlund and Hanifin might want to stick around.

Think it works if Coronato can step in and start scoring and one of our goalies grabs the ring.

Kadri's problem is he brought no intensity.
Zilch, nada, zip.
Remember all that "loves the spotlight" chatter last summer? So much for that. He's supposed to be Tkachuk-lite for straddling the line. He didn't bring any of that.
It's very obvious when that guy is trying. I've seen it nearly every season prior to last.
Hopefully it was a Sutter issue.

Tkachuck played some pretty uninspired hockey at times as well. After the Muzzin pick flip he seemed to distance himself from the team. He also made a point to bring up his drop in ice time after Sutter took over.
There probably are several factors but I’m inclined to think we will see a more competitive, more engaged Kadri on more consistent basis this year.

The trouble with some of the heart on their sleeve guys is that they can also have big drops in engagement if they get tired emotionally. Gaudreau was kind of the same sometimes (two season before he left comes to mind). Ovie had a really down period where people were saying "he's done".

Yeah, I’m reasonably certain it’s not just a Flames issue either. A drop in play or perceived drop in level of engagement happens to players across the league and probably for a multitude of reasons.
Also worth bearing in mind Kadri had himself a really solid first half or so. Can’t recall who but someone did say the Kadri’s play dropped after the Trouba hit. He could have also been dealing with an injury.

The league also places a huge value on guys that have skill and play as an agitator. Playing that way over 82 games would be exhausting, but in a contract year we probably saw more of it from Kadri than you would otherwise, and his payday reflected it.
It's a hard style to sustain. I'm not sure we can expect to see peak POS Kadri over 82.

Not true, before Matthews, Kadri was competing with guys like Hyman, Marleau, Marner, and Tyler Bozak for top 6 time.
In fact, from 2009/10 to 2014/15 Tyler Bozak was given the #1 center minutes. Kadri did have some #2 centre time from 2012/13 until Matthews arrived in 2016/17. But Kadri also had a 44 point in 48 game season and often played with absolute scrubs for wingers and when the team was in total tank mode.

This is literally a trade speculation thread. I get the Bergeron thread but I see nothing wrong with people speculating here.

What does Boston even have to offer for Lindholm? They don't have a 1st until 2026 and isn't their prospect pool thin atm?

For what they would be willing to give up....
Lysell, Carlo and 2nd.
Not overwhelming, but not unfair. They would run lindholm and zacha in place of Bergeron and krecji.

Even with Bergeron retiring, I could see Boston wanting to give it another good try next season given the regular season they just had. I don't think you go from record breaking regular season to tear down without seeing what's going to happen. I could also see Lindholm having some value on an expiring deal as they wouldn't have to commit if it doesn't work out. And if it does work out, Boston isn't a franchise that usually has to worry about re-signing players.

Not unfair? You have to be joking.
A stay at home defenseman, a ho hum prospect, and a second round pick in 2026?
I don’t see how that package has any value to to the Flames now or in the future.
That would be a terrible return for Lindholm. Would open the door for every GM to walk all over Conroy.
