Bumonton media trying to pressure McLeod into taking another team-friendly deal?

Quote:
As McLeod faces the arbitration hearing, the decision he makes will have implications not only on his contract but also on his future with the Oilers. Balancing the desire for fair compensation with the opportunity to play for a championship-contending team presents a challenging dilemma for the young forward.
Quote:
The question arises whether McLeod should push for arbitration to determine his market value or continue negotiations with the Oilers to facilitate the team’s roster-building efforts, particularly for Evan Bouchard’s contract.

There are several teams that are capable of winning two rounds before getting swept that aren't Edmonton. The lad should grab as much money as he can. In Bumtown or elsewhere.

Take the money, kid. It'll help pay for PTSD therapy later in life.

I always find this line of thinking strange.

"He'll take a discount to compete for the Cup!"

Uh...NHL careers are short and he is 23.

I think normal people would be more concerned about being paid first and then there is still lots of time to chase a Cup.

Get some career earnings under your belt first and then worry about the rest.

Well he hasn't competed for the cup in Edmonton, so why should he take a discount to play there?

Do we really want to stick our hands into the much that constitutes Edmontonian Oilerian Economics?

Its been known to drive otherwise sane men mad.

So with Samsonov's arbitration deal the Leafs have to shed cap. They apparently can't put Murray on LTIR because he appeared healthy at the end of the playoffs and it would be hard to make a case for LTIR as a result.

Meanwhile Holland and Mike Smith....

Take a discount to compete for the cup? How? He's not a UFA. He can take a discount to play for a ####ty team.

They should do the more honest thing and pressure Darnel Nurse to buy him a $3 million dollar house every year of his “team friendly” contract.

Edmonton always wanting players to fix management’s blunders. A Pocklington tradition that carries on to this day.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Today in Bumonton History....

Quote:
And so, the river valley became the city’s trash receptacle. The escarpment where the Hotel Macdonald now stands was a particularly convenient and popular place to dispose of trash. So popular that it formed a vast collection of food waste, household goods, and refuse, which soon became known as the Grierson Dump.

But the Grierson Dump wasn’t just home to waste. Soon, people began to move in, drawn by the possibility of finding treasure among the trash. A shantytown sprung up, housing mostly young men who would scour the dump for scrap to salvage and sell.

While the engineering office might have encouraged the dump, others weren’t so keen. Police felt the shantytown was a hotbed for crime. Firefighters often had to battle blazes at the dump. And those living near the refuse grounds complained of flies that “swarm into houses” and a stench that remained “even in cold weather.”
