Well done, that is outstanding attention to detail and made me laugh.

So, maybe someone with experience will know this better than I do, what is the key 'sweet spot' concerning cars and hail damage?
Other than just general size and composition of hail of course.
I've always kind of thought its when you get caught on the road in a hail storm, because you're combining the momentum of your vehicle with the momentum of the hail?
Today I got caught in it, I pulled into a parking lot just to stop moving and let the storm pass, there was no cover but I've never seen my car get pelted like that before, that storm was wild.
After it passed I went and inspected it and there was nary a dent. Survived it perfectly fine.
Meanwhile I saw people protecting their cars and trucks with blankets and tarps and sleeping bags while my vehicle didnt even get a scratch wide out in the open in a parking lot.
So...people who have experienced Hail Damage...whats the scoop?

Parked cars get pounder with hail all the time. It just depends on the storm and how hard and large the stones are.

This has always been what I do when caught driving during a hailstorm. Pull over somewhere and wait it out. Not under an overpass, but just stop the vehicle from moving.
If I'm at home and there is a warning about the possibility of hail, I put the blankets by the door. When it starts, I keep an eye on it. If it gets to quarter sized, that's when I toss the blankets on. If it stays under a quarter, I don't bother.
Worked for me so far.

It's scientific fact the faster you drive the fewer hail stones hit you. So just outrun them.

Oh man, that storm just cleared the smoke right out. I love this part of Calgary. We don't get to see it that much these recent years. We have very little rain and lots of smoke.
But the clear, lush wonderful look of our city after a big rain, with sun coming down is so beautiful with the big sky. Sure beats 80% of our year here where it's either brown from fall/winter/spring or brown from the last 60% of summer where it's crisp and ready to burn from no rain because undercoverbrother kept "wishing it was hotter".

I have done the same all year have been successful so far but then two weekends ago, my car took a slicing line drive foul ball right in the center of my hood.

Shakespeare in the Park yesterday must have been a blood-bath.
Hopefully they were doing 'The Tempest.'

It looks like they had some issues over the weekend, so here's hoping that the forecasts get back to being a bit more accurate:
Quote:
Forecast Issue
July 16, 2023 Due to network issues this past weekend, smoke forecasts were produced with missing forecast hours and/or missing carryover smoke to initialize the forecast with. As a result, the smoke displayed on the current forecast did not accurately reflect the actual conditions. We have implemented changes to fix the network issues and are monitoring the forecasts to ensure this does not recur.

Been to Vegas in July? He cant possibly.
That heat will melt your ass-cheeks together.
If you walk outside you can feel your shoes melting on the pavement. Its madness.
