Still would love to hear all your thoughts, Royle! Don’t let me stop you! I’m sure everyone would love to hear things from 2 different perspectives!
Looks like we got ourselves a good ol' fashioned Canadian stand-off, neither side wants to be rude lol much respect to you both but please keep in mind we all crave diverse info from these camps! Let's hear it all
Thanks in advance!

Interesting on the notes on Kerins. Is he for sure a Wrangler next year? I know many of us were high on him out of junior, but it seems like he was just ok in the ECHL.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I too am curious how it was decided that some players go to the ECHL while others to the AHL. Was it ability, readiness, fitness, just a number game?

All of the above, also playing time. Keirns would’ve been playing behind a number of AHL veterans so a year in the ECHL would be better for his development. Hopefully he is able to successfully make the jump up to the Wranglers this coming year.

He didn't do too badly in the ECHL for a first year pro. If you go by PPG, he would be 2nd on the team I think (eyeballed it, didn't do the math). He seemed to miss a lot of games though, but at least he earned an AHL call-up for a few games as well.
I don't know what the scouts want him to work on, but my guess is they thought playing a lot of minutes would benefit him more than being on the Wranglers as a depth player and not seeing as much ice-time.

Weren't there rumblings that he came into camp out of shape and unprepared for pro hockey last season? He was one of, if not the only drafted prospect to not get into a pre-season game last season, and if memory serves, didn't really get a ton of playing time in the rookie tournament either. Hopefully it was an eye opener for the kid. The skill is evident.
Hey i wanted to shout out to everyone who is giving feedback on camp. Living in bc with blackouts and so on getting firsthand info can be difficult. So thank you!
I mentioned in several threads that Stormgren is a guy we would be talking about a lot more by the time camp was done, so appreciate the feedback on him. Question is could he play RW? Honzek-zary-stormgren?
Shame about Suniev i think he would be a standout here as well.
Also glad to hear about kuznetzov. Other than poirier I wasn't to high on any of our defence prospects

I was at both of todays sessions albeit the second one for only about half of it! For me there were some real standouts that in most cases have been mentioned by others.
Honzek is as advertised…big and rangy and his shot is something to behold. He pulls it back behind him as far as I’ve ever seen a player and his release is lightning quick.
Coronato is a beast. To me his focus, intensity and execution going through the drills was a cut above all others. Always first in-line for the drills and was always all business!
Stromgren is very smooth for a big man and he’s got a heck of a shot…he showed lots of intensity and overall impressed me…..he stood out!
Kuznetsov to me looks ready for the jump…fast, intense a cut above almost all others out there.
I liked Duarte a lot. Good size, plays with intensity and lost very few positional battles during the one on one drills…
Klapka looked strong, had some awesome low corner snips….gets a little tangled up with himself at times but overall a strong showing.
Overall lots of size out there….a noticeable improvement over past years Camps.

I had zero problem with honzek as our pick. Would getzlaf be a comparable as far as size skillset so on. He is a top five pick in a lot if years, i think he is a steal already.

Kuznetsov really gets slept on around here.
Going to be a solid defense first d man on the Flames for a long time. Guy is essentially a Tanev clone.

I agree wholeheartedly. His “presence” is always noticeable and I liked his intensity. He along with 3/4 others spent a lot of time with Danielle Fujita before the first session started. His efforts to complete the drills to her “standards” was noticeable….no short cuts, always intensely focused.
