Samsonov is going to arbitration. I am assuming if the Leafs cannot sign him (either through negotiation or whatever the arbitrator awards) due to being more than 10% over the cap he just becomes a UFA?

They'll sign him and use this 2nd buyout window on Matt Murray.

So that saves them about 4 million next year which should be slightly more than the Samsonov hit. Then they still need to move some money out to become cap compliant.

Hmm. Dumb question. Can they buyout more than 1 contract in this 2nd window?

I’m starting to think sec214 has gone too far into the rumours and can no longer see pass the gifs.
That being said I’m enjoying the modern hieroglyphics keeping my summer entertaining!

Wild guess. Lindholm turned them down.

One can hope you are correct. Much like when a credit card company turns down an application for further credit and forces someone to get their house in order, a forced rebuild would be a welcome event for Flames fans.

Conroy was putting the final touches on a Tanev + Vladar + Crate of used water bottles for Nylander deal when someone in TO took the phone away from Treliving.

Worst case scenario. Lindholm wants out and Murray wants him and Hanifin gone. Conroy does two Phaneuf style trades lol

You think Lindholm wanting out means a forced rebuild and that is where you could potentially be wrong. It is pretty clear there is a win now mandate and the team likely pursues deals that keep them competitive

Hallelujah! I'm sick of being stuck in limbo as a fan, not knowing what direction things are going. A Lindholm answer would be really nice right about now

Elias Lindholm has had the Flames’ offer for a while now. The Flames already have their answer: “No.”

nah. After last season, I fully understand Lindholm when he wants to take some time to think this over and see if he's comfortable committing for 8 more years. New GM, new coaching staff, lots of potential moves ... I understand if he wants to see whether the team is competitive. I don't want any passengers who just sign for the money, I want those long-term, high AAV players to really want to be here. Let him think about it. It's the beginning of July, it's not like there's any sort of rush to this.
