I mean, this doesnt show emigration; just that we gained 35,000 new people.
Also, who says these are the best and brightest? Maybe Alberta just gained 35,000 chodes

I wonder if there is any chance people are coming to Alberta to flee from all the successful left leaning policies of the Provinces they are in?

I spoke at length with a guys who moved to Calgary from Ontario.
Talking points;
Calgary drivers not good compared to Toronto
Selling house there and buying here was a plus (or course)
Health care system better in Alberta.
Just one guy, so take it with a grain of salt.

I don’t think anyone doubts that you wonder about that

I know physicians who've moved to Ontario from Alberta and say the exact opposite. Frankly I've found it better out here, but just my opinion.

This is a very common critism by many, I wonder what is causing this? It's common enough it really feels like there is some merit to it.

Well sling a house for say $1.3m and buying a comparable one for $750k (type of thing) is probably pretty compelling. As long as you can work and have other things arranged.

Calgary drivers drive in your blind spot constantly. Once you notice this, you're going to see it everytime. Whereas in Toronto (and elsewhere) people just don't do that.

Pretty much driving anytime between May-October is just garbage in Calgary.
All the really bad drivers put their cars away when the snow falls however so the winter is usually much better overall.

Yes but why do Calgary drivers do that? My question is what is making Calgary's drivers bad? Is it education? Or just local culture?

Local culture, low congestion, wide open roads and slower speeds.
Go to a bigger city (specifically an American one) and even terrible drivers drive better. There’s so much more movement when traffic is free that there is more forethought and awareness needed. On top of that, when traffic is bad, people generally understand that every in traffic is collectively “in it together” and it’s much less antagonistic. Calgarians don’t handle congestion well and so, when it hits, they turn into absolute idiots.
With bigger roads, slower speeds, and less traffic, drivers are naturally less aware/alert, strategic, and purposeful behind the wheel. Add the aversion to honking here and nobody is ever course corrected. 9/10 times you honk at someone when they #### up here and they give you the middle finger lol.
Calgary is genuinely one of the worst places I’ve ever driven. Though, Toronto is also terrible, so I’m not sure what the original person is talking about.
Basically, it’s a mix of everything that makes Calgary bad, but mostly there’s low incentive to be any good and (so long as you avoid an accident) no punishment or shaming for being bad.

They’re effectively the same in all ways except house prices. Yeah Toronto, land of the good drivers here….

It's hilarious, the guy reads the narrative in the US on California/Texas/Florida migration patterns and tries to blindly apply it to Canada.
Wait, it's not hilarious, it's terrifying to see how manipulated people can be by their social media feeds (that they obviously are spending a disordinate amount of time consuming).
Get off the twitter, man.

It’s possible that she’s rooting for the ILWU to win rapidly, but somehow I doubt that.

You've not set your mirrors correctly if you have a blind spot for vehicles that are in the lanes on either side of you.
For vehicles passing you, as the vehicle is leaving your rear view mirror, it should be entering your side view mirror. As it is leaving your side mirror, it should be entering your peripheral vision through your side window. And if you're passing a vehicle, reverse the order.
If at any time a vehicle that is in a lane immediately beside yours is not visible, you need to change how your mirrors are set. Far too many people set them to look down the side of their vehicle.
