Man I watch a lot of news from CNN to ABC to PBS to DW to whatever. Whenever a new story comes out I basically check all channels outside of MSNBC and FOX.
I haven’t heard anyone argue that this shouldn’t be investigated. When it happened they carried the full story and most criticized the sentence despite it being pretty standard fare.
I just don’t see this narrative that people don’t think there should be investigations into these things. Literally no one has said this.

The case was brought up Asian students who argued that they were held to a higher academic standard to get into the best universities, which the SC agreed was a clear case of racial discrimination.
And a number of states had already ban affirmative action, such as California.

Apparently the gay person in the web designer case that the designer didn't want to create a website for is a fabrication. The New Republic contacted the person in the court filings and that person never requested a website from the plaintiff and was married to a woman at the time.
