Exactly.
Yamamoto was awful last year.
Couldn’t even produce playing with McDavid or Draisaitl.

Will never happen, GM's are pretty cutthroat when it comes to their team. It would not take long at all for a GM to break ranks to land a player they want.

Yamamoto seems like an Islander in my mind.

And all that would happen is salaries would just be redistributed amongst players. Also most GMs don’t care about four years into the future

Yamamoto isn't very good. I wouldn't have any interest in him even if my team had cap space and some openings.

LOL.
I guess that's a word you could use to describe it.

Is there a Jfresh on Yamamoto, I would say his WAR would be ~50% so he would be serviceable. And, if you could get him for like 1MM, the chance of him succeeding would be worth the risk just to shame the oilers. Those players always improve when they leave.

Some improve, like Dubnyk or Schultz. Some fall right out of the league like Yakupov or Nilsson.

The Duchene one is kinda nuts when you consider:
Buyout = 19.3M spread over 6 years + 2.25M over 3 years for a replacement player = 21.6M
vs.
24M over 3 years
In cash terms it's more like $15.3M vs $20M (though again that 15.3 could become 17.6M if you factor a replacement player
Is saving only ~15% really worth spreading the pain over 6 years?
Kinda shocking there were no takers at 50% for a 65pt pace player this year who scored 43g/86p in 78 gp the year before.

I think I want to see the Flames give Duchene a 2-year deal on the cheap and see how he does with Huberdeau

Maybe he is actually not good in the room so that's the price to get rid of him. In that case not a surprise that they couldn't sell him with a commensurate cap retention.

I'm pretty sure every team will be looking to add Duchene. Especially if it's at 6M or less.

Yamamoto actually scored above his draft position. 12th in points v 22nd in placement. TBF 7 picked above him are dmen so if you remove the 5 not named Makar or Heiskenan, he's 12 in points versus 17th in placement.
