I'm surprised there hasn't been any substantial like real time roster trades today. Just filler and cap dumps. Not even from a Flames perspective, it's bizarre.

From what I've read, Sanheim is a good player who had a bad season, not helped by the fact that he had a boat anchor named Rasmus Ristolainen strapped to his back all season.
No reason not to grab him if the Flyers are selling him for pennies on the dollar.
If you trade Hanifin and then trade for Sanheim and pay less to get Sanheim that is a win IMO.
Some people want to give away players to rebuild but it might be smart to exploit these teams giving away quality players.

I guess the thing is, if you are interested in Hanifin, why would you pay a premium if you can get Sanheim for pennies on the dollar.

I think, especially in the Flames case, once it became clear that teams weren't willing to move their 1st round picks, nothing was going to happen until free agency at least.
I'm sure the ask hasn't changed, we're just talking about 2024 1sts now.
If you attempt to piece together rumors etc. I bet Hanafin moves within a couple weeks. No idea where, but I bet he's the next to move.
Then everything depends on Lindholm. If Lindholm signs, I bet Backlund is moved. If Lindholm is moved I bet the Flames give Backlund the term he wants on a lower AAV.
I was fooled into thinking that there may actually be a mini rebuild/retool, but that doesn't seem to be the case with what we're seeing/hearing.
Zadorov and Tanev are interesting ones to me, because if you believe Conroy they don't want to waste expiring assets. Do you move them both? Zadorov seems like he may be open to staying, so do you attempt to sign him this summer? At his age and ability, I'd like to see him stick around. With Tanev, he seems like the hardest to get a grasp on. I don't think he's going to command top dollar to stay if he wants to. I also don't think he's in the position to command a ling term deal from anyone, though with his injury history I'm sure he'd like the security of a retirement contract.
I don't see too many young defenseman knocking on the door to the big club just yet. If the Flames want to compete, I wouldn't be surprised if Conroy re-signs both of those guys.
