Maybe the pattern of criticism is due to the fact that he’s not very good.
People don’t like negative opinions about the Flames. We don’t see it much from the Calgary sports media so it is disconcerting. Guy seems like a good reporter to me, but just my opinion.

I think that is a fair assessment of the trade.

I don’t mind the negativity.
Edmonton has the opposite and it’s awful.
But I think his takes often lack context and depth of thought

I kind of wonder if there was a divide in the room this season between guys who liked Sutter and agreed with his approach (Toffoli, Lucic, Lewis etc...) vs the rest of the room. We got rid of Sutter, didn't bring Lucic or Lewis back, and Toffoli wasn't a high priority, so maybe management is divesting themselves of Sutter's guys.

Lol y'all should remember I have no problem just straight up calling people bigots if that's what I think, so that is not what I meant there and you can all calm down. I was thinking more along the lines of bullying in general, potentially even hazing of a new guy type thing, but interesting reaction.

You're entitled to think whatever you want of his work, I'm also entitled to think its generally a bad look to beat a dead horse. Point taken on Francis and I should not engage in that either.

No, it's a terrible take that only an Oil fan would agree with. A big strong young two way sniper who excels at killing penalties vs a soft useless pile of garbage. Not comparable at all.

I don't think it's a Sutter thing. Those guys are old and blocking young players from getting a look and Toffoli is 31 looking for term and would block a young player based on his contract.

Paying someone at the age o 31 on a long term deal is how you get yourself into trouble. Plus he doesn't have the wheels to keep up.

Really? Is thete anyone here who has said they are "thrilled" about this trade? I see a bunch of posters saying it looks fine, and are not losing their minds over it.

Did someone just compare Sharangovich to Yamamoto?

Conroy has an excellent grasp of the player he traded for. I also like his vision for the team.

Well, no. Yamamoto also comes with that massively inflated multiyear contract, which dramatically lowers his value.

I think this gives us an insight into how the Flames are approaching this off-season: targeting young rosters players and change-of-scenery candidates rather than picks.
A little but like the Florida model. I am excited tobsee how he does. Put him with some skill and maybe he gets his game back.

My biggest concern in everything that’s played out, is anyone that has ever won anything (including Sutter) with the exception of Kadri seems to be ending up on team Sutter. Feels like we might have sided with the never one anything sour grapes crew and are hoping to build around that.

That said, extending Tofoli after his career year last year would have been a mistake based on what it would likely have cost.

Wow bad trade. Also that Toffoli quote is quite telling.
That’s my insightful contribution to this forum.

Agreed. "Imaginitive" in this case being synonymous with "delusional."

We are all entitled to think what you were implying there but nice pivot lol

Also based on that entitled opinion of yours, your constant bringing up of Dissentowner’s ‘misses’ is just as bad a look by your definition as fans calling out their team assigned reporter, who’s a known and admitted Oilers fan, for his constant bad/negative takes.
