He is a terrible reporter...tweeting an opinion based on numbers doesnt change that...nevermind leaving out the context of contract situations in forming said opinion.

Or maybe nobody (including me or you) knows how the trade will work out?
He's a big guy that can skate, has a great shot, can play any forward position and just scored 24 goals 2 seasons ago.
Maybe there's some potential there, and we should see how he actually looks when he's in Calgary before calling this a bad trade?

“It didn’t sound like there was any sort of need for me”
Toffoli gets neglected by Flames, asks for trade.

Why would you do that? That's not analysis.

Sounds like Toffoli was upset he wasn't the focus of the Flames offseason as it's been known they are waiting on Lindholm.
Probably realized he wasn't getting paid if Lindholm signed.
Sounds a bit like hurt feelings.

Isn't that what we wanted? Players are people and if we treated them all like assets all the time then they are not going to be loyal to the team either.
By not trying to sign Toffoli he asksed to be traded, people are unhappy with the return and he publically bashes the team now on his way out

Probably ok considering the market right now, cap space is a good thing.
But should have traded him & others at the trade deadline. Another example of a clear miss by that management.
It's funny the same posters here defending the low return were the ones saying not to make trades at the deadline because the market would be better in the off season.

I dont have any issues with Sharangovich the player, I'm just more than a little underwhelmed at the return for our top Goal Scorer.

Avalanche got more for a cusp of busting newhook than we did for a near ppg player on a 4 mill contract.

True. I also wonder how much Lucic moving on affected Toffoli as well. No Sutter, no Lucic, no big contract offer. Maybe he just felt like it was time to go.

He's basically another Francis, probably worse. Just finds the worst, laziest, low-brow, click-baity takes. I can't take him seriously at all. Calgary needs less media like him, not more.
I thought maybe he just had beef with Sutter because Sutter didn't put up with his dumb questions but it's clearly deeper than that. His bias is showing and it's pretty unprofessional.

To be fair, everything kind of hinges on your 1C re-upping. Not sure he has grounds to be too upset. Any other team would have him a couple rungs down their order of priorities too.

I’m ok with this, though ideally you pick up diamonds in the rough for cheap. It sounds like his speed will help if they want to play an uptempo game next season

Friedman said about as much on 960 tonight. Everyone is ranked. Some higher than others. Some lower. Lindholm & Hanifin were the priorities. Sorry Tof.

Say this Shaggy guy gets a 1yr deal and gets 35 goals. Then next off-season, when the cap jumps they can do a sign a trade on him at age 26 and get real assets.
