I like it, extra pick, 6 years younger, more control and will be a lower cap hit. Playing in our top 6 he should be a 20-25 goal scorer, bigger and faster, perfect.
Guy wanted out and asked to be traded, do some research that’s not the recipe for a blockbuster return. Connie and management don’t want players here that don’t want to be here and that’s good.
Welcome Yegor, prove NJ wrong here’s your chance.

Either this team was going to try to stay competitive for another season or go full rebuild. But unsurprisingly they're instead going to pretend to do both.
It's a bold strategy to be sure. Some of us will even delude ourselves into believing it will work.

This is a re-tool trade and trying to stay competitive. What were you expecting in return for Toffoli for staying competitive? A Duclair swap?

This guy will also cost half of what extending toffoli would've.
Buying low on talent is smart.

Watching his highlights, he’s got good wheels and a decent shot. Had a knack for scoring off the rush, which is something Calgary lacks. Looking at his stats, his production at 5v5 is basically on par with Toffoli the past three seasons. If he can capitalize on the opportunity to play on a PP unit, this has potential to be a solid deal.
Add in the cap savings, six years younger than Toffoli and hopefully a guy that can stick around for a while and there’s plenty to like here. Also telling are the posts from Jersey fans on Twitter sad to see him go and asking Flame fans to take good care of him. That’s always a good sign.

Comparables say he won’t get much of a raise in arbitration: 2.5 maybe. They might yet bridge him with one year.

Not disappointed with the player, I'm disappointed with the pick.

I personally want to see them rebuild, and I guess I expected they would want to rebuild too. But we know John Bean said he isn’t allowed to use the word rebuild…I’m just saying if the Flames focus on trading their players for players rather than acquiring futures, I’m going to be very disappointed.

Just please don't let it be in a return for Hanifin.

Why not?
He's going to argue that he was playing at a 41 point pace over the last 2 seasons. That's close to $4M on average. I can see the Flames sticking to his QO in their argument, which leaves him at somewhere around $3M.

Best part is we don't have to see that Flames fan post that dumb Damn Tyler Toffoli video or some guy rubbing his body.

I haven't used my question.
WILL they re-sign Elias Lindholm this offseason?

Maybe he didn't play on the PP in Jersey. Toffoli got all the PP time in Calgary and was the shooter. They got almost the same amount of 5x5 points so if he gets some PP time why couldn't it happen?

I’m starting to think the Duclair thing could be real after this trade. Friedman said it after all. I feel depressed.

Yeah. That’s why I’m harsher on this trade than anything. There was a small sliver of hope a rebuild would happen but it isn’t and I shouldn’t be surprised lol
