Maybe a one last ditch effort to keep him before trade talks get serious?

Hopefully not fluid, as in sticky.

Depends on how you want to look at it. It could mean:

1. Flames haven’t learned a darn thing and the new regime is prepared to make the same mistakes that previous regimes have made.
2. Lindholm is going to force the team’s hand into trading him, and they’re going to have to evolve whether they want to or not.

I’m preferring to hold out hope for option 3…

3. Pagnotta is recycling old rumours and has no actual inside sources.

I would think the offers are solid

My guess Flames are really concerned on losing their number 1 center

Could take years to replace.

The part about convincing Lindholm seems to be Pagnotta's own opinion/speculation.

I would guess Conroy is meeting Lindholm as a final "can we get it done or else we're trading you at the draft" sort of thing.

Who knows. Sec / dissent had Conroy shooting down trade offers

I think the Flames want Lindholm...at a price they deem manageable though

can still get younger with other trades

Toffoli/Backlund/Hanifin still fetch good returns without Lindholm traded. And I do like that we are trying to stay open with Lindholm. If I were to guess we’re probably looking at 65m/8 deal and Lindholm camp wants 72-75m

The Flames want to get younger.

You could have Lindholm on the books at $8.5 million for 8 years to help guide younger players to a rebuild or retool/whatever.

IF they hadn't already signed Kadri and Huberdeau.

Now, it's a contract they will regret almost immediately and will just make it harder to sign their younger core (whenever they emerge) in 3-5 years time.

Just seems unnecessary and the value Lindholm could provide in a trade is just too significant.

“We’ll see if they can convince him” is very telling

The price of offers or the price of his contract?

Offers.

Sec has been inferring trade for a couple days now.

Lol so true. I'm just glad we have one in our lives. I literally set a timer for his set-time-posts.

Told it's likely to have a Toffoli trade before any of the others.

I could see this being true. The flames could end up getting a lot for Hanifin and Toffoli. If they choose to keep lindholm they could still do a “retool” where they are a competitive playoff bubble team in the next 2-3 years while some young players develop. Hopefully the young players turn into impact players by then and the team will become more of a contender. It’s kind of what Dallas did.

Not saying that’s what I think they should do but it could be the direction they go.
