I had to sit in the most uncomfortable folding chair at an event last night. I don't know how this chair passed any sort of design testing because it was horrible and I actually woke up with a sore back this morning. The seat pitch was so shallow and the seat bottom barely went past your buttocks and the back rest was completely vertical. There was no way to sit comfortably in this chair and I hope I never see these chairs again.

Frickin CBE. My son made the track team. The meet was scheduled for today and my wife took the day off work to take him to Foothills. They sent out an email yesterday advising that they would notify parents by 7:15 am if the meet was cancelled due to the smoke, if no email sent then assume the event is on. So with no email received, off my wife and son go across town along with many other parents and kids. Then at 8:15 the teachers at the track notify everyone that they've received word the event is cancelled. Still no email sent to parents. Everyone's upset and disappointed of course. What a waste of time! Get your #### together people.

I don't know what the chain of command is for this communication but the Vice Principal at our school sent an email at 7:50 saying that the track events were cancelled.

Air quality is a 2 right now. Yesterday it started at a 10. At 2 pm it was an 8. There was a UWS game that was scheduled AND PLAYED yesterday! My daughter was supposed to do the walk out with the players, but I said that I am not comfortable subjecting her to potentially short term and long term illness for a game that IMO shouldn’t have even been played.
I’ve already voiced my GG about sports and the stupid politics.

I played golf yesterday and the smoke was totally fine... didn't even smell like smoke. Maybe it was because the course was by the river.

At an old job I had a boss who bought a Yacht. He knew nothing of boating or yachting and this thing was costing him an absurd amount of money in mooring and maintenance and he never wanted to take it out because it cost a fortune to fuel.
And he'd always brag.."Boat...means 'Bring Out Another Thousand.'
I dunno man...I dont think thats a good thing. Its not how I'd want to spend my money.

I usually rent one for a day a year and totally get more than my fill.
Boat guys are weird, though. Like, they can stay out on the water all fricken day and I don't get it. I get bored of it pretty quickly, but just do it to give my kids the experience.
Last year instead of a skiing-type boat I rented a pontoon boat/party barge and liked that a lot more. Space to spread out. You can go in the middle of the lake and dive off and swim and stuff. It had a big bimini so you could be in the shade. If I had to buy a boat it'd def be a pontoon boat.

Oh it gets better, he had it moored in Vancouver despite living in Calgary, paid dues to the Vancouver Yacht Club, bought the 'Captain's Hat' the whole schtick.
It was wild.
To the point where I was thinking to myself:
"I am not certain that you are entirely sane."
I'm pretty sure I'm one of those guys where you couldnt make me buy a boat at gunpoint.
"Do it. Pull the trigger."

I think sometimes wealthy people just run out of things to buy. They're looking for that endorphin rush and excitement from when they were young and bought something cool, but you can never get that back after a certain point and at a certain level of wealth. A Calgarian buying a yacht has definitely reached that point lol.

The rule of thumb is 10% a year to keep a "yacht".

Then buy a motorcycle or something. Mooring a boat 1000kms away is batcrap crazy.
Anyways, just a little anecdote of my life. That guy was nuts.

100% with you, dude. Just a super expensive headache/hassle. If it randomly sank it'd probably be huge relief.

I'd think mooring a yacht of any significant size in Calgary would be crazier. It's a short flight to Vancouver, is it makes sense to leave it at the nearest ocean. But ya, that harbour is bonkers expensive, for obvious reasons.
And the best boat is someone else's boat.
