He doesn't have to be in the dressing room to make an observation. People make observations all the time. He is a guy on a message board sharing an opinion, isn't that what a message board is for?

Sure, but these sorts of anecdotal suppositions are completely worthless. It should come as no surprise when they are called out and summarily dismissed.

Thanks for the input. I respect your opinion, I may not always agree but that's okay.

Will Rasmus Anderson be named Captian after a Backlund trade?
Huska loves Anderson according to Francis

Andersson would be an awesome captain. Still getting better as a young defenceman, and already a top pair guy at 26. Responded very well to feedback from the GM and coaching staff very early in his career to take better care of his fitness and habits without any whining or pouting. Carries himself with swagger on and off the ice and is clearly a guy that his teammates like.

I agree. It may work out to trade Backlund, sign Lindholm and make Anderson Captain. If you can reasonably sign hanifin as a number 2/3 then do it, move him for another 1st and good prospect if not.

Andersson has been through the ups and downs with Huska, he would be great choice as the guy who can get the team to buy into the coach's message.
From 2019: https://theathletic.com/885082/2019/...ent-over-wins/
Quote:
“Our first year, it’s no secret, we didn’t get along very well,” Andersson said. “I came in, not in the best shape, we had a few battles here and there, but it all got me to this point and if he wouldn’t have been that hard on me, I don’t think I would have ever changed.”
“You learn a lot from watching video with him,” he says. “He sees the game really well and he’s so good with the details so it feels like you’re developing all the time, every time you have a video session with him, or have a talk with him.”
“That second year I came in in better shape and we had a really good relationship and it all led me up to here and now, we have an even better relationship up here. He’s easy to talk to and he lets you know when you do good and when you can do stuff better and that’s what I like,” Andersson said. “You see both parts of the game, the things you can develop and the things you do good. He’s been really good and I really enjoy playing for him.”
|
Also comments from Mangiapane:
Quote:
“Honestly, to me as a person, to me as a player, he’s meant everything,” Mangiapane said. “I went in there as a rookie. It was tough. But it’s what you needed. He was strict but he was also attentive to details. He wants you to succeed.”
“Tough but fair,” Mangiapane described. “He’d bring you in and show you good clips, and show you some bad clips, OK, you need to work on this, you need to work on that.”
|
Hathaway:
Quote:
“He’ll pull you in his office for one clip. At the time you may think hey, this doesn’t mean a lot. But time and time again, it always seems to come back to help,” Hathaway said. “It’s that repetition. Knowing what the right play is. You won’t always make the right play at the right time, we’re all human. But at least try to make the right play and to know what the right play is, I think that’s what he’s helped a lot with. He’s a supportive coach, but he’s detailed and he’s critical in a way that helps.”

So first order of business, what is the nickname... Husky? Corny? Corn?
For me...I really like Corn. It's Corn! A big lump with knobs. He's got the juice (he's got the juice). I can't imagine a more beautiful thing!

Guy has utterly failed at overseeing improvement in Flames goalies. Now he's more associated with identifying talent, but he should've been gone long ago.

I don’t think fans have the necessary insight to really evaluate head coaches with much accuracy, let alone assistant coaches and goalie coaches

Between hundreds of interviews and the actual results over several seasons, I'd call it more than an anecdotal supposition.
