The only thing I can think of is the football play (running back a kick) but that really doesn't track, since the alternative to running it back is the fair catch or taking a knee. Should the hockey team take a knee or wave for a fair catch?

I think it’s an old film or music editing phrase to play it again from the start. Run the tape back.

I'm taking the bus to work today and some animal is playing music off his or her phone at max volume no headphones. Where's Leonard Nimoy when you need him.

Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who just didn't give a #### about things. I'd walk over and just whack the phone out of their hand and smash it.
Alas I am too gentlemanly.

Also, if you ask rando's on Transit not to be a jerk you run the very high risk of being stabbed these days.

That's why it's best to not ask, and just shoot them in the chest with a roman candle. Can never be too safe.

Not a gear grinder but a bit of a head scratcher for me but I just saw that the Flames Foundation is selling 50/50 tickets at an upcoming concert at the Dome. Do they normally sell 50/50 at concerts as I haven't noticed this before. Do they have the volunteers walking up and down the sections like they do during hockey/lacrosse games? I support the purpose of 50/50 draws but it just seems really weird to me to do it at a concert.

That is weird. I don't remember there being popcorn/hot dog/beer hawkers at any concert, not sure why they'd be doing those draws either.
I wonder if they'll announce the winner before or after the encore.

Is there anything worse than thinking you have lost your wallet?
I leave for a business trip on Sunday, and suddenly today my wallet vanished. I had only stepped out to grab lunch through a drive through, and when I left the house to get my daughter, I couldn't find it.
I tore through the entire house, car, looked around my front yard to see if I could find it. Spent hours trying to find it, with an increased sense of panic.
Then started to think about how the heck I would be able to travel without any credit cards, bank cards, etc. I called both my credit card companies to see if they could fast track a new card to me - surprisingly the earliest turnaround is about a week. Lame.
I held back canceling the cards in hopes I could find it. Knowing if I did, I would be sure to find it right after.
Even though I tore my car apart multiple times, I finally found it wedged down in the smallest and deepest space between my seat and the middle console. I have no idea how it could get down there so far. But there it was.

The Flames foundation raised about $8 million in 2021, with over $7.5 million of that coming from the 50/50 raffles. A little over half of that was donated to charities, the rest sits in the bank. Now much of that lag can be explained by Covid and the slow pace of donations in 2020. But still the Foundation had $6.5 million in unrestricted cash waiting to be given away as of their most recent public set of financial statements. That is unnecessarily large and seems to be a recurring issue for them.
From what I can tell, CSEC donates very little to the Foundation as nothing is disclosed in the related party footnotes. And the Foundation reimburses the Flames for things like office space and employee payroll.
When the Flames foundation talk about their contributions to amateur sports, playgrounds, charities etc., it is really the fans money that is being donated.
I mean it's a good thing that the Foundation coordinates the 50/50 and everything. But I suspect many people believe the Flames owners are putting more forward than they are.

I'm always losing my cellphone in my house. When I come home I set it down without remembering where I left it. I spent an hour this morning searching the house with no luck. Then I got this brilliant idea where I took my landline phone and dialed my cell number. I walked around the house listening for the ring tone from my cell and as luck would have it I found it. In a place I never thought to look

This happened to me the other day! I found it in the trash which I was about to throw out. I left it on the counter and someone must have knocked it in there. Horrifying.
A few years ago, I lost my cell phone the day before a trip to Chicago and had to use Find my iPhone to get it back. Luckily, someone nearby had found it and saved it for me.

Why climate change might make you think twice about eating raw oysters this summer
https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/raw-o...brio-1.6862183
Vibrio, a bacteria that flourishes in warmer waters caused by climate change can be found in raw shellfish
If affected by vibrio, oysters — specifically raw oysters — can cause serious gastrointestinal illness. Though vibrio isn't a new threat, experts say climate change is causing it to spread, making it a growing concern.
I know it's not a really serious threat though. as the article says:
"Despite the potential for illness, the risks are still relatively small.
"At its riskiest in the summer, vibrio illness rates are one in 10,000 raw oysters eaten."

I'll take those odds any day if it means I can enjoy a squishy ocean-y treat on a patio.

I almost gave myself a panic attack when I lost my wallet. I had just moved into my new place and had way too much going on such that losing my wallet was an absolutely nightmare scenario for me.
I retraced my steps and finally remembered I was at a local restaurant the other day. Managed to call them up 15 minutes before they closed, asked if they had any lost wallets, told them my info and PHEW. They had it.
Now I keep an AirTag in my wallet. I am never going through that again.

I know this is probably dumb, but lately I rarely know where my wallet is (like, it's not "lost", but not on me).
My phone, on the other hand... That's my car key, has my payment cards, etc... I suppose I'd be in trouble if I was pulled over while driving and didn't have my DL, but - knock on wood - that hasn't happened for a long, long time.

I went through this at a Flames game. I was having trouble getting the tickets accessed on my phone, so I figured "screw it, lets just go to the Casino and figure it out there."
Because it was cold outside.
I was frustrated so when I got to the Casino I threw my coat into the booth and lo and behold my wallet must have fallen out.
I had a couple drinks, figured out the ticket glitch, grabbed my coat and we headed to the Dome.
Get to the Dome to go through security aaaaannd.....no wallet in my coat.
Thats when the panic set in.
Luckily (and unluckily) I keep my ID and credit cards in my phone. So there is no ID in my wallet.
The Casino found it, kept it at security, but now I have to prove that its mine. Luckily I had some business cards in it (with my name on it) and a picture of my daughter and I could describe what she was wearing in it.
That was a hellish experience, but credit to the Casino staff!
