He’s loyal and touts the party line. He won’t speak ill of his leader. Maybe with a couple of beers.

Not this election. I believe this about as much as I am not racist but... or I am not racist because i have black friend. No leftist voted for the UCP this time around.

Centre-right could have voted either way on this.

I just think the UCP is better economically for our Province and my Municipality. Our MLA, who lives in my actual constituency, is a better representative than the NDP option.

It is possible to be pragmatic when it comes to a voting decision.

All politicians are kind of the worst, just pick the ones that you think will do the best job for you locally and represent your communities needs and values, regardless of their party, is my mindset.

Everything else is just message board/social media outrage and fodder!
That's fair.

I also see it as these days it's just a pick your poison type of decision. We're rarely presented with appealing alternatives any more and there would be categorical wins & losses with either result. Hopefully the UCP can follow through in the one area they appear to be good for.

In the end I'm on team Alberta. I hope we can prosper, but also do so tastefully (while putting the clowns with questionable/outdated views in their place).

People should only be taking certain issues into account when voting or else we get rampant bigotry. Those issues are obvious - the ones not rooted in bigotry, transphobia, climate denial, and anti-vax rhetoric.
What?

This of course is no reflection on Justin Trudeau as he is his own man and it would be unfair to draw any direct conclusions from that. It is however, also plausible that he is following in his father's footsteps and many of his formative years and ideas about Canada came from his family.
Does that CEO also have a brother who is the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the world.

What's really funny is how this is making you look on CP.

Anecdotal, and double hearsay. I might have been one of those times when he came out to the Stampede and the crowd kept giving him the finger.

This is exactly what the UCP wants. The more educated a populace is, the less likely they are to vote conservative. Ignorance is the lifeblood of the UCP

It surprises me that traditional conservatives like die hard flamez are so vehemently defending their choice to vote UCP. These UCP are simply NOT the traditional brand of Alberta or Canadian conservatism. Smith is anti-truth and anti-science and borderline anti-democratic. They are nothing like the Jim Prentice's of old.

I would have thought most conservatives who voted UCP this time held their nose while doing so, not beat their chest proudly on the internet that they voted for them.

It vexes me.

Spoiler!

I would have loved to have voted for a moderate conservative party with sound fiscal policy and common sense social policy. That just doesn't exist here anymore.

Most people from Quebec barely think about Alberta at all. On the other hand, lots of Albertans have a seething hatred of Quebec and its people.
