I would think so. Didn't Smith said as long as UCP win the election, provincial money is in for the infrastructure? And Calgary City Council voted unanimously in favor? Now that the agony of election is over, please just pick a date and let that shovel hit the ground.

Smith did say it will need to be approved by the cabinet, so there's always a chance they vote no, but I'd say that's unlikely.

I think the only thing that could get in the way now is if Murray and CSEC think that maybe they can put the screws in for an even sweeter deal. But I think that's more likely to be backroom "give us an even bigger discount on this adjacent land" type stuff.

The only bright side of the election results in my opinion is the arena deal is very very likely going to move forward.

I know it may seem bleak to non conservatives. But the NDP has not done well for us here in BC.
Not sure if you are a big NDP person. I for one feel there is no party that I truly believe in, but I loathe the NDP here in BC right now. Province is a bit of a disaster

Not sure I'd entirely agree with that. Horgan - generally - was pretty decent as a leader and during the pandemic-infected years of 2020 and 2021 was very careful and judicious of his handling of COVID. Almost *nothing* was shut down ... and people went about their usual lives with restrictions, but no lockdowns and little heavy-handedness from gov't. Financially stable (surprising!) as well. Yes, BC is quite a bit more expensive taxwise than Alberta for individuals. (BC = "Bring Cash").
Eby has been a mess and the province as well since he took over - that is for sure. But he's not a nutbar like the new AB premier.
Will all this crap translate to hundreds of millions for Murray Edwards and the CSEC gang? Who knows? Will Van now want a new arena? LOL.

Wasn't Calgary the big battleground? Without some support in Calgary and the 12 or so seats they held onto, the UCP don't win that election.

Eby is a complete disaster...but I do think John from Langford was pretty even keel. I think his government did OK during covid, but I think that he definitely made some mistakes (but so did everyone).
It was a rough go for me and my family during Covid. It was not easy to stay in hotels and live, but that was partly my fault for taking on 2 new children in my care and giving up my space in my foster/group home. The need for beds and people willing to take on more during covid was just so high though and I couldn't say no. I felt the closures and restrictions a lot. My kids in care really struggled with out their programs.
But that's over now and it's mostly the current NDP that concerns me and the lack of a real alternative. The amount of open drug use in family areas is pretty nuts right now. And it's leading to serious safety risks for everyone.lack of doctors, cost of daily living ect.
Don't even get me started on the debacle at bc housing, bc ferries and ICBC lol

I don't understand that comparison.
Of course you may believe the ruling party won't honor their promises because nothing matters for four years. That's not how I think about governing, but I don't want to debate that.
But your original point was that only the rural ridings matter and i just don't think that's true. Edmonton and the rural areas seem to be locked in. Calgary is in fact what matters.
