Its ugly, elitist, and incredibly intolerant behavior that probably contributed to the loss by not being able to swing more people on the fence to vote for the NDP.

You'll never win "hearts and minds" by berating people as stupid, bigoted morons for having differences of opinion from you.
You know what you're completely right. Go ahead and make your own medical decisions! Let nature take its course and win some Darwin awards.

That's one way to weed out the crazies.

A thread on CP contributed to an NDP loss? I'd love to see those numbers in the poll data.

I didn't vote for a bigot. The bigot in question isn't in my riding.

And Smith will welcome her back into the party in under a month. She, too, will be bigot adjacent. Not that there probably aren't 40 other MLA's in the party with the same opinions who just managed to keep their mouths shut. Make no mistake, this will be the most hateful government in Canadian history, run by Christo-facists who admire all the rights that have been taken away by Republican lawmakers. But hey "I like my local UCP MLA" is really gonna be a awesome fallback.

Did the person who supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine get elected? I can’t remember the name.

So you admit that there are confirmed bigots within the UCP?

Rural Alberta is in for an even bigger world of hurt when it comes to healthcare now. Buckle up.

Working in an emergency department let me just say this is laughable. Now we have a bunch of unmonitored patients sitting on stretchers. It is a massive safety issue that has resulted in people dying in a waiting room and this doesn't solve any issues at all. Emergency Departments are understaffed and they can't recruit or retain staff to work there because it is a meat grinder.

It has exchanged one issue for another but hasn't solved anything. No one in health care is saying it was an effective solution, especially when their policies have actively driven away healthcare workers and haven't done much to actually build new healthcare facilities that would reduce wait times

Hanging your hat on that is adorable in how naive you sound

The Premier is one of them. By voting UCP, you’re helping that person stay Premier.

You know how politics works. Not so easy to wash your hands of it all.

I really hate that the answer to this question is, "Which one"

But you voted UCP, which is an endorsement of Smith, and the candidates she and the party permitted to run. Those people are bigots. You don't get to separate that. They had a choice to walk away and show their principles, but they chose to stay and endorse a leader who lies and breaks the law. Remember, one drop of feces ruins the cookie batch. Enjoy your feces covered MLA.

Why would I worry about what people like that think?

It’s no different from how some people in this province treat people from Quebec for no reason other than the province they hail from.

Oh yeah. There are a few. I've met them, and if they were in my riding i would have been voting NDP.

"Difference of opinion" like thinking some groups of people are subhuman and deserve curtailed rights?

My fine fellow, that is the definition of bigotry. If you don't want to be defined that way, don't think that way. Otherwise accept the title.

Yes, with 67% of the vote.

I follow U.S. politics closely. I’m terrified that Alberta is moving to Florida-style governance. Smith’s love for DeSantis to the point of calling him her “hero” is alarming. That’s the guy you want to emulate?

I’m embarrassed today that we elected a dingbat who is likely to take us out of the CPP and RCMP. Doctors will flee the province. Good luck if you don’t have a doctor or if your doc leaves. Education will suffer. I expect the UCP to initiate a process toward separation. I’m discouraged.

I think you could look at everyone's posting history, including your own, and recall that.

Doesn't mean it can't be called out. I am sure I was when I was doing it.

Though I agree with your sentiment, Ontario has thought of Albertans this way for ages. Nothing changed from yesterday to today. That and who cares what Ontario thinks. They are certainly not morally superior to anyone else in Canada.
