Is there any reporting or sourcing on these new Trudeau policies coming down the pipe that Smith mentioned? Was only half listening and didn’t catch the actual policy points she said he was gonna implement.

There is definitely a lot of "none of the above" sentiment baked into the low turnout number but another thing that needs to looked at is why the NDP has such a loud bark but seemingly no bite. There was so much promotion leading up to election day about conservatives lending their vote and saying good things to door knockers and all the lawn signs but when the day comes it doesn't seem like the voters are showing up. At 8pm tonight there was a lot of optimism from NDP insiders but that didn't work out for them.

I work in the industry and this is the first I've heard of it.

If true, that's it for the energy only market.

Rachel Notley is the perfect person to lead this party despite the outcome.
She’s definitely the best public servant that I can think of provincially. Does she have the strategy to win elections? I dunno. She won one for the NDP, which as a guy who’s almost 60 and has lived here all my life seemed just impossible.

That's your interpretation. If you don't like what he posts don't read.
My interpretation informed my decision to put them on ignore, so I don't read their dribble. When people talk about them I feel free to espouse my intepretation towards the community about them.

Do they? I have serious doubts I'd suggest they are not saying how they really feel.

Depends on if Nenshi wants to become leader or not. I think they need to maintain the centrism and a vote of the base likely pulls the party back left as Notley as elected was much more left leaning than she is now.

It’s also a risk that you get a person from the environmental wing of the party as opposed the the labour wing of the party which would be detrimental to them as an alternative.

So unless Notley sees a more electable leader than her then I think she should stay. She out polls the party

Wow I thought it would be close. UCP following the world wide conservative party play book of changing leaders and running a campaign on taxes and the economy paid off.

53% of the popular vote for NDP in the urban ridings. The UCP really, really need to figure out a strategy how to win those votes back. The cities are not Danielle fans.

With all due respect, you musts be pretty young. Some MLAs and MPs are good at assisting constituents deal with the government or get funding etc. But they have no say in policy.

Nenshi would be better aligned for the Alberta Party imo. Maybe he could take the leadership and make it less of a clown car. It would be nice to go into an election not having to hold my nose in the booth.

It's a discussion forum. Unless you've met posters from here, do you really know how posters feel. Or does it really matter.

Go back and read it again, then, instead of just repeating that phrase like it means anything.

I, along with the majority, pointed out the thread was silly/embarrassing/absurd/etc. Your first post was even “I would be laughing too”! lol

The point is, acting like people are a monolith, or that there is some “you all” that happens to be a perfect circle of creating mean threads about the poster, insulting the poster, and asking for his opinion is also absurd.

You do a lot of finger waving at imaginary figures. Come on back to us.

The people who keep saying that the NDP should cut ties with federal party really don't have a strong understanding of how the NDP's finances work, and how crippling that would be for the provincial party.

The NDP does not get a lot of money in private donations due to where they fall on the political spectrum. Most of the wealthier donors and organizations tend to be more right-wing.

I can't remember if unions are banned from donating to political parties in Alberta but, even if they aren't, unions don't have a particularly strong presence in Alberta. As such, the provincial NDP are always going to be heavily reliant on the federal party for funding.

Could they gain a percentage point or two from rebranding? Maybe, but it would come at the cost of being able to run a competitive campaign.

Maybe because the mainstream media is biased?

The UCP deferred the rise in electricity costs last year. This means that all of our bills are about to skyrocket, but she's blaming Trudeau for it before the bill comes due. There are no new federal policies on electricity production about to be announced.
