Ya, no chance the Devils move Nico.

I think there is something there with moving Lindholm to Columbus. If we can get one of their stud C's, that would be great, or a + to get the 3rd overall. I would also ship out Kadri ideally or Backlund and replace with UFA - O'Reilly. Projecting a 5.5/3 year contract. Some savings there. With Kylington coming back, one of the D can go too.

I think a Toronto trade could be had as well. With their lackluster goalie performance and Forward heavy lineup, I think a trade of Hanifin and Markstrom for Nylander and Robertson would have potential or Hanifin, Markstrom and ++ for Marner.

Likely pipe dreams but I see a good fit with both Columbus and Toronto as trade partners. Curious if Treliving going to Toronto helps or hinders making trades with them. Murray might refuse to deal with him.

Minny is in huge cap hell, no way they trade a young cheap pretty good player for an aging expensive one.

Even though Backlund is good.

There are few teams that can save you cap, and it will cost you to save cap this year.

Especially for two players who are UFA"s to be and will become very expensive very soon.

If under a trade Calgary will get younger, better and cheaper, it's not going to happen.

I wonder with Nonis coming on and his familiarity with players in Anaheim if they become a trading partner.

Bob Murray already here, too.

Jeeepers I hope not. That roster is absolute garbage. Only Troy Terry is remotely interesting, and they have no motivation to move him

Yes, Backlund. But ya, I was never a big fan of moving a 1st to get rid of Monahan, only to replace him with a contract like that.

Both Columbus and Toronto are up against the cap.

If Toronto moves one of their core it's to save cap, not to increase it. it just means moving out anther core piece. Nylander is signed for two more years, he has more trade value that Hanifin for that reason alone, and you are stapling Marky to him also?

Columbus has a huge chance to save cap with their #3 pick who can immediately take over the #1 centre role. I simply can't see them trading that for a soon to be very expensive centre, as they'll need to dump productiove players to fit him in.

Columbus has a lot of cap space for next season. Definitely not up against the cap.

Toronto has 9+ million in space and Jake Muzzin's 5.6 going on LTIR. They have flexibility too.

$16.8 million in cap, no one significant to re-sign this summer.

I do like Weegar a lot, but I also get a lot of Ian White vibes in the way some people try to look at that trade. Again, Weegar is obviously not White, but ...well that trade looks pretty bad in hindsight now, no denying.

Weegar is a top pairing defenseman. He is nothing like Ian White, other than being a defenseman, traded to the Flames.

They have 13 mil in the injured section.

That's included in the projection already. They have, including the IR bracket 66m in cap space used.

Nah, that Phaneuf trade was bad from day one and actually turned out mediocre for the Flames with Stajan lol. Huberdeau + Weegar looked like a great trade on the day it was made and then swung the other way quickly.

Funny enough, Conroy criticized that trade and wondered why Darryl didn’t get any 1st round picks back (@ 10:07)

That interview is gold! OMG I love Conroy.

Open ####ing kimono baby!

I wonder if this openness will continue. Will be interesting to listen to his presser when he makes a trade, hires a coach, mid/end of season interviews.
