My NDP sign was stolen - that didn’t take long. The erosion of our democracy continues.

I wish I had my NDP sign stolen.
Instead the sign went up and boom multiple bylaw complaints from someone. Then a very over velous bylaw officer, really reaching on bylaw infractions.

All the NDP signs in my area that went up at the start of the election all got removed by someone after just two days

I will never understand the thought process here.
“My neighbor has an NDP sign. That makes me SOOO MAD. I know! I’ll STEAL IT. NOW how is he going to remember who to vote for? Mwahahahhaha!”

The rare NDP signs here have stayed up.
Saw a UCP sign on the street on my walk today.

I haven’t noticed any signs being stolen in my neighbourhood (in Calgary Currie) though it’s not like I’ve counted them carefully enough to notice. Overall the ratio is about 3-1 (NDP to UCP) for signs in my area.

I think it’s probably more so to make it look like they have less support than they do, and who’s to say it’s even a neighbour doing it. Unfortunately there are some pretty bonkers people out there.

Wait is this for real?
Just a sign or your lawn? Was it massive or blocking someone's view or driveway or something? If it was just a smaller sign on your front lawn it can't be legal for a bylaw officer to just take it away. What was the reason you were given?

Not impressive at all, but they squeezed more seats out of it than the UCP. It was efficient

I reported an election sign to 311 yesterday... my first 311 complaint. It's a fairly large one and is within about 5 meters of an intersection when the bylaw is 30 m. My former next door neighbour was the local curmudgeon who'd call the city over all sorts of petty stuff. But he moved away, and I guess I'll step in and try being that guy now. Gonna make a list of which of my neighbours is leaving their creeping bell flower unweeded next.

Just a small sign. The complaint wasn't the sign (because there is nothing they can do about that) but because of the sign.
Complaint from a neighbor who very much didn't like the sign. So they called bylaw to complain about anything else on my property. Then the bylaw officer came by and nit picked everything on my property. Way too crazy. 90 plus percent of houses in Calgary would be in non compliance based on what he hit me for.

I reported a massive clearly contravening bylaw Farkas sign during the municipal election. Right by the intersection and nothing ever happened to it.
Owners sold and now the house has a normal sized NDP sign up.

Is he actually on the ballot in Elbow? If so, it would be hilarious if he was the reason that the UCP lost enough votes to give the district to the NDP. Are there a bunch of wakos in Calgary Elbow? I don't know the demographics at all.

This dumbass sign has been sitting on the side of the southbound lane of Taylor Drive in Red Deer for about 2 weeks.
I'm not sure how this isn't violating local bylaw. Spoilered for stupid size:
