I would rather them finish last, draft high, draft poorly, lose said prospects for nothing, rinse and repeat.

I guess supposedly generation talent comes once every 10 years or so, they got the last one and didn't do anything with him and the missed out on this one. So, they'll have to suck at least 10 years to see if they can land the next one. And they'd probably wouldn't able to do anything with that one either.

have the excuses been raining down yet?
I kinda think getting to the second round only to lose 2 years in a row with the window closing , is worse than 1hat happened to the Flames. Must be crushing especially during the playoff season when all the top dogs except vegas went out in the 1st round lol

That and teams generally win cups with generational players. Oilers have not been close, but this was their best chance. Next year the field will be harder, Colorado specifically has proven to dominate the Oilers when healthy. Their fans will try and cope but they know this year was by far their best chance to win it.
