My favorite part of all this is you can't trade buyouts and cap overages. Neal's buyout is killing them trying to figure this out. They are probably going to have to spend assets to fix this or do a terrible buyout of Campbell's contract. I can't wait to see what Kenny does.
|
I don't think these are guys they move because of ability or value. They are guys that other teams want and can fit in, and aside from them, no one is tradeable that makes a big enough dent.

May be they can trad Soup Boy plus a 1st to any team willing to take him without retaining salary for a 7th?

This is what that guy proposed:
Kane -- 5.1
McDavid - 12.5
Drai -- 8.5
Holloway -- .925
RNH -- 5.125
Hyman -- 5.5
Kostin -- .75
McLeod -- .834
Foegele -- .746
Janmark -- 2.3
Bjugstad -- .9
$43.18
Ekholm -- 6.25
Bouchard -- 5 <-- this is very conservative
Nurse -- 9.25
Karlsson -- 11.5
Kulak -- 2.75
Gudas -- 2.5
Broberg -- .863
$44.113
Hellebuyck -- 6.16
Skinner -- 2.6
$8.76
==> $96.5
Salary cap for 2023-24 is $82.5
That's a whopping $14M over.

esp as Foegele is signed for 2.75
in addition I guess Ceci, Yamamoto and Skinner just disappear? (I'll concede maybe you get a pick for the first two)
and Neal's buyout?
so anyways about 18M over for a 20 man roster- nice!

Even if he could be moved, would they actually give up assets to trade Campbell (or retain salary)? Skinner wasn’t exactly solid when the pressure was on, whereas Campbells playoff stats (in limited action) were actually quite good: 1-0-0, 1.01 GAA, 0.961 GAA.
I’m surprised they aren’t throwing Skinner under the bus, seems like the easiest person to blame for another failed playoff run.

Stauffer will, just give him some time.
To start the year, if he isn’t a brick wall they’ll also hammer him.

Skinner was being roasted all day on 1260 and 630.
He’s the big problem today
Good for him, he seems like a decent fellow and he doesn’t deserve to be stuck there

GOAT!

Everything else aside, it just occured to me that Oiler fans can take a bit of solace in knowing they're going to win exactly the same amount of games in the 3rd round this year as they did last year.

Luckily their up and coming AHL goalie is none other than their AHL goalie coach's son.
You can’t make this stuff up.

Skinner had save percentage in the 800s 7 of the 12 games and 2 games was in the 700s yet they have a goalie making 5million per season for the next 4 years on the bench. Every time Campbell came in relief he did his job preventing more damage yet every game they went back to skinner and would continually hang him out to dry

Dude, your team would be so much worse if that happened. Hellebuyck is pretty great and goaltending can cover up so many warts, whereas Draisaitl is a one-dimensional offensive player/pp specialist who will cost your team goal after goal defensively and pout when things don't go well, ruining any team vibe or chemistry.
Stick with what you have, it ain't worth it.

I just realized the one of the final 4 is going to have a cup soon and they have Edmonton to thank.
- Tyler Seguin (picked Taylor Hall instead)
- Matthew Tkachuk (picked Puljujarvi instead)
- Jesse Puljujarvi (traded for magic beans)
- Jack Eichel (picked immediately after "the leader")

They can have Markstrom from us . theres a few players i would love from that team... but Scheifele could move if they made the above play.

It's a funny group of teams left for them in general. They have the team that beat them in the finals, the team that used to own them, the team that just beat them and Matthew Tkachuk.

Don't think he has tipped the scales much for the Canes.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
It's still going to drive Oiler fans nuts if the Canes win and Puljujarvi hoists the cup. Maybe to a lesser extent Habs fans with Kotkaniemi.
