I think he actually didn’t - he just said he was surprised and thought maybe he’d have done better. But either way, once you ask for a trade, you have set a tone.
I don’t care that they did - they are entitled to do so, and maybe they had good reasons, or maybe they didn’t. It’s not them I am complaining about. It’s the constant bringing up of the same thing over and over in the games. At least if they were out that would have quieted for a while.

I don’t disagree. And I was cheering for FLA. But seems weird given the point differential.
In any event not really well thought out on my part.
I take it back.

Revisionist to some yes. There were plenty of us on this board that knew Bennett was being completely misused. Ridiculous he wasn't a staple at center in the top 9.
Sorry misquote. I meant to quote Scorp

Congrats on a big win for sure! A lot of players, most recently Crosby, have wondered about going back to a 1-8 or a 1-16 format where the top team plays the worst playoff team as a whole. This way the regular season means something and that teams are rewarded more frequently for their overall performance.
This is a historic upset and a very hard fought series win for Florida. A lot of players don't like the format and some despise how quickly the top teams meet in the 2nd round and just get beaten up.

Love to hear the analysis from the NHL network now on the great work by Tkachuk and Bennett on that shift. The little factors they both brought to that play to get the winning goal. Incredible.

I said this in another thread: The Oilers ineptitude lands them generational talent. The Flames ineptitude keeps them mediocre. It's not fair

You’re a fan, so you’re perfectly entitled to cheer for them to lose so you don’t have to hear about it anymore.
Hopefully somewhere within the Flames organization there is so someone who cares enough to understand what didn’t work with Bennett and how Tkachuk could have been handled differently.

I think Tree could've kept them both by signing them early but also those guys clearly wanted to leave. It's a ridiculous debate because it can be both ways. Anyway, water under the bridge.

Yet here’s Mikael Backlund, something like 12 months after requesting a trade…still here.
I agree with your general point though, but also you have to look at in that the Flames didn’t really do anything to ward off criticisms/complaining regarding Bennett and Chucky. Things are not good in Calgary. A good chunk of ex-Flames are off finding success, and our rival - who kicked our assess last year in the playoffs, are also finding more success.
It’s a rough time for Flames fandom. If anything I think Flames fans should be louder about their problems with the team. Hopefully it generates enough buzz that it forces the team to get their #%^* together.

You can throw out the standings and records when it comes to the playoffs. It's a new season where all teams start out new.
Look back to the 1971 season where Orr and Esposito shattered league records only to see the heavily favored Bruins lose in 7 games to rookie Ken Dryden and the Canadiens. The same Canadiens who went on to beat the Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup.
That is what makes the playoffs so exciting to watch.

But that literally happened in this series and this is the result.
What this means is that the playoffs are literally a different season. Whatever happens in the regular season means nothing as soon as the playoffs start.
I give credit to the Bruins. They were tough the whole way through, but you could see the nerves getting to them because of the regular season they had and the expectations on them. I do think it's a bit of a burden to be an elite team in the regular season, and I think it's far better to get in just by being good (not squeaking in, but legitimately good). That way you have confidence, but you aren't expecting to dominate every opponent. When adversity comes, you can respond appropriately.

They can be louder. I’m just tired of the repetitiveness in what are essentially game threads.
