I watched Pearl and X over the weekend and both were great. Mia Goth is unreal in both.
If you like Mia Goth, then you should check out Infinity Pool; shes amazing in it and I really liked it as well, favorite horror film of the year for me.

Infinity Pool rules. Just don't think too hard about the messaging/themes in context of it being directed by a (talented) nepo baby of one of Canada's most successful directors haha.

Beau is Afraid is hard to "grade". I can see why reviewers were so conflicted.
The ones who outright dismissed the film are just poor critics though.
It's possible that there isn't a film more psychologically triggering. At least, for those of us with childhood traumas who experienced cold/strict parents. But also people with general anxiety.
It's incredible how Aster managers to expose a person's deepest feelings of vulnerability and discomfort right from the opening minutes, and adds a layer of comedy to that. A frighteningly realistic visualization of a paranoid/anxious mind.
You'll probably hate the experience, but you can't deny that it is riveting. It's more art than entertainment, but entertainment can be found throughout. Ari Aster is a mad man, and I love that A24 lets him flesh out his projects in all their insane glory.
I love Aster but have yet to watch Beau Is Afraid; how's it stack up for general anxiety relative to say, Uncut Gems?
Watched Ghosted on AppleTV this weekend. Very a mindless but generally entertaining popcorn film.
Spoiler!
The "fan service" moments in the latter part of the movie are so unexpected and enjoyable, that they make the movie worth watching.
I thought it was just 'meh' - it felt very much like a "Hallmark" movie, other than the fact it was big names. Really, the only part I really enjoyed was the "fan service" chuckles with the bounty hunters.
Someone to Watch Over me is an 80s thriller directed by Ridley Scott . The story is pretty basic, women witnesses a murder and a cop has to watch her until the killer is caught. Scott elevates the story with stunning visuals and amazing camera work, really capturing New York in the 80s. I'd recommend it, didn't blow me away but I was thoroughly entertained. Plus it has detective Lenny Briscoe from Law & Order which is always a win in my book.

I watched T2: Trainspotting because they talked about it on the Blank Check podcast. I didn't watch it when it came out because I didn't think they could make a proper sequel 20 years later, and a lot of people must have felt the same because it didn't do well (except in the UK).
We were all wrong though. It's really well done. The characters have all moved on about as much as you'd expect them to and it's fun to see them react to Renton returning.
If you loved the original you'll definitely like the sequel. The callbacks are especially entertaining.

T2: Trainspotting is about as good of a sequel as you can do considering the time in between. There was more than enough material from the books to craft a follow up film, and they nailed it.

Loser is a fun little 2000s rom-com, with amazing music and is a total time capsule of that time. If you are like me, you probably only heard of this movie from the Wheatus song, but I think it's worth a re-visit, critics were way too harsh on it upon release.

I have seen far worse performances get Oscar nominations than Goth's performance as Pearl. It's a shame that horror movies don't get serious consideration when the performances are on point like that.

Yeah Pearl should have at least deserved a nom. She basically made that movie.
