My kid is in grade 1 and apparently there's a kid in his class who's terrorizing his class. He's hitting kids left and right, and we only found out today because one of the parents whos friends with our son asked us if it was happening to our kid too. I am so beyond furious that I'm not being told as a parent that someone has hit my kid 4 times since January, and his friend even more and ongoing.

I told my kids to ask the kid twice to stop then you drop them like a bag of ####.

We only got 1 call, in grade 6 from the school.

So just a warning if you're taking a walk. I'm an adult so I'm can dodge and get away, at least have some awareness, but kids and/or babies this could be dangerous.
During a walk last month with my dog a lady had her big bull breed out for a pee. It lunged at us as we passed, thankfully more in a protective way than attack but that's scary enough. Few days later we walked down the same street and I crossed the road just to be on the safe side and she yelled out it's okay he's friendly.

Yeah yeah, okay dummy.

We had something similar with my son in grade 1. The teacher this kid had in kindergarten left the school after the year. His grade 1 teacher went on leave part way through. In grade 2 the kid's teacher quit the CBE before Christmas. The principal wasn't taking it seriously at all even though I sent a picture of pretty good sized bruise my kid had.

We filled out the form here and sent it to the area director: https://cbe.ab.ca/about-us/contact-u...confidentially.

And sent it in. You're entitled to a written response from the area director.

They declined to take any disciplinary action against the kid (and his class still gets evacuated so he doesn't injure anyone when he throws tantrums regularly). But I did receive a written guarantee that my kid wouldn't be placed in his class ever again.

Yup. The school is just as likely to say the bully kid is actually the one being bullied.

That's exactly what happened when my kids were in elementary. Mine weren't involved but the bully was actually deemed the victim because of how hard done by they thought he was. Nevermind that he picked on half a dozen kids.

Like you, I showed my girls some basic things to do as a last resort. Aim for the nose with your fist or the crotch with your knee.

The one case we got it wasn't my son involved, but a smaller "nerdy" kid that was being bullied.

The boy told the kid to leave the other one alone. The kid didn't listen. After the second request the kid got dropped and we got a call from the Principal, who luckily knew my boy from the wrestling team.

I picked up a pack of those 'Legends' hockey cards things they're doing at Tim Hortons.

2/3 cards were female players from the Canadian women's hockey team. Like, ugh, I get what they're trying to do here, but come on. I won't be buying any more.

Filling out a really long form in a web browser, and when you press submit, nothing happens, so you have to redo everything all over again in another browser and hope it works.

25% of the base cards are female players

Even more annoying when you're buying something. Money taken from my account, but no ticket. Took a while to resolve as well.

Wow. Unhappy with your $1 purchase of hockey cards because they had women hockey players on them. Interesting.

My daughter thinks it's super cool.
Worth it.

Yeah that would suck more than my situation. I just had a warranty form to fill out and upload some pics, etc.

Yes -- that about sums it up. They could have at least advertised it so I knew not to waste my money.

Well....in fairness....you're buying hockey cards. That money was getting wasted one way or another.

If you're going to Tim Hortens and wasting money on cardboard, you might as well pick up some hockey cards while you're at it.

I didn’t even know adults still collected cards, except as some kind of potential investment. Like, what do you do with it after you open the pack? Look at it for a second, reminiscence, and then immediately misplace it and forget you ever bought the things?

Looking at the list now, I really want the Martin Biron card, lol. A decent 1b / backup goalie for a few years, but they were clearly stretching the 'Legends' definition even with the men.

I didnt even know they still made hockey cards for anything other than the sole purview of fast-food restaurant giveaways for children.
