If they get Bedard or Fantilli? It only makes sense to me for them to get hyper aggressive on the trade market.

They’ve got a roster loaded with good young talent, some elite goal scorers, and a good pool of defenders at the NHL level and at the prospect level.

If they draft 1st or 2nd I think they’ll turn into a good team very quickly.
I agree, and I believe a D-man should be at the top of their list in trade scenarios. If a 23 1st in involved, I would think we would have to seriously look at it- but it would hurt to lose a guy like Hanifin, who is still young, and claims to want to be here.

What about a Kadri for Kuznetsov trade? There are some NTC’s to work around.
I don't think Kuz would last 2 minutes in Darryl's world. His GAF meter is terrible.

Picks.

I should've clarified. Nothing/very little in the Oilers system is worth trading for, you're absolutely right there.

Dylan Holloway would be worth trading for, but they wouldn't just give him away. He needs to be rescued though, before they ruin him like PoolParty and Broberg.

That's a guarantee if he stays.

My friend knows him well and it sounded like Dylan wasn't exactly impressed with how he was handled this season by the Teenage Wastelands.

A bit of reading between the lines, but general vibes of double-u-tee-eff from the response given.

I feel like if Columbus is getting a center with their first this year and possibly shifting Kent Johnson to that position they may be in a position to make a deal for Sillinger because if they were adding Lindholm you would think the plan would be to sign him for 8 years.

I think the Flames would be best to try and move Lindholm, Backlund or Toffoli to a team that is not great today but is eager to move forward. They tend to give up the better futures in efforts to move their programs forwwrd by acquiring veterans.

I forgot about Johnson. Perhaps we could rescue Roslovic too somehow?

Every time the Flames lose or do anything bad, you will be calling for trades or firings anyway. Then it will be the responsibility of the coach or GM, and everyone who advocated for it on CP will scurry away.

Almost as though random variation doesn't exist.

Welcome to the life of being a sports fans. They are fickle and will react to the current situations of their favorite teams

I would hope we're kinda sorta better? And we've graduated from results-based "analysis"?

Taking a break from the GM thread....

If Backlund wants to go after a cup, and Lindholm is ready to move on, I would say move them both. It's doing a favour for Backlund, who more than deserves it, and getting the best possible return for Lindholm, who is at peak value.

Kadri / Dube / Zary / Hunt

that's the centre depth. Glaringly missing the #1 guy, but with a year of development in those roles, the top three are all potential good #2 guys. To bring in a #1, I hate to say it, but you either poach a young player from another team or draft one that will be ready in three years.

Take Lindholm, Backlund and anyone else and go poaching guys who are D+2 or D+3 and buried in a system with a long contract #1 and 2. Kadri and Hubey are staying, so cut your losses and build around them in a one year retool. Let the guys you've developed on the farm play, and don't sign bottom six UFAs. Don't sign any UFAs.

What about trading Lindholm to Winnipeg for Dubois.

Huberdeau was supposed to only want to sign in MTL, maybe the higher ups could convince Dubois to sign here also.

Huberdeau was the opposite. He said Montreal was a hard place to play for French players. I am not sure I believe the Dubois hype either. Sounds like Montreal fans banking on hometown ties like Blues and Devils fans were.

The Huberdeau interview came out after signing where he stated he thought that MTL was hard for Quebecers.

I also believe a lot of the Dubois stuff is speculation.

Would be very interested in the swap if he would consider signing here.

Or Calgary, frankly. I remember people convinced Neidermayer was coming because he was an Alberta guy, or how Taylor Hall wanted in here, or even now people are only half joking about Makar.

I’d forgotten about the lock it in Hall’s coming home hype train. Lol that derailed so quickly

Dubois stuff is not speculation

His agent said he wanted to play in Montreal last year. Remember he was a RFA when it was said so not tampering.

Gaudreau said he'd love to play for the Flyers. It will be interesting to see if he forces his way there or anywhere but Winnipeg lol
