So Markstrom and Hanifin to the Panthers?

Oh, yeah. That's a good one to watch. I always liked Hamilton when he was with the Flames. I would be glad to see him have success too.

Markstrom is arguably another Bobrovsky. Sometimes really good, just not consistent and in his head a lot. Though maybe they allow more shots which seems to be Markstrom's better game? Unfortuantely, they can't shed Bob at $10M.
Aside from that, seriously, yes. But for what? Bennett and Duclair?

Was actually surprised to see Bob got his save percentage above .900, barely.
He has three years left on his deal, would they buy him out after this year? Looks like that would give them a three year cap hit of $6.67M per, followed by three years at $1.67M. That would seem like the way to go.

Yeah your analysis of Bob is spot on, he is basically what Markstrom was this year but has been that way for the first four years of his deal. He may put up a couple of good months but is wildly unpredictable. Basically it's an unmovable contract and with Knight going down with personal issues their in a bind. Two goalies making 15 million combined.
Hanifin on the other hand would fit a need. I'm sure Duclair would be available, Bennett probably not.

Not after this year since Knight is out too so they actually need him. But after next year I could see a buyout happening although I'm sure Zito will rather try to move him for another bad contract.

I guess question is whether they could find a $3.3 million goalie they like better than Bob. Not likely and good point on Knight, doesn't seem they can count on him at the moment.
Vladar anyone? JK no NHL team is interested in him as a starter unless it's to tank.

Yeah it's very unfortunate of course whatever he is going through right now. There were rumors already last year that Zito was trying to move Bob to make Knight #1 and I was sure it was going to happen this summer the latest but his situation really throws a wrench into things.

Well similar to Kylington, the timeline for return is murky, but I wouldn't be counting out Knight for next season already. It's highly likely he'll be ready by next September. That's a long time from now.

I am hoping this thread gets expanded over the summer to include at least three players that aren't named Lucic or Lewis.

Not counting him out, just thinking they can't move Bob even if he is back because they don't know if he can handle #1 duties.
edit
I really dislike Bob as a goalie but one thing that can't be argued is that he tries really hard (probably too hard) and is a great teammate. A veteran guy like him would be really good for Knight.

People complain about Markstrom making $6M to play goal. Bob would be paid $6.67M to not play goal. AND they'd need another goalie. Vladar and Knight?

Yeah I guess moving Bob and retaining is better than a buyout. But even at $5M, I doubt there's a market for him.

The old "What about Bob" argument. He might be the worst contract in the league right now so I guess it is some consolation.
Reminds of when we used to laugh at the Oilers for the Lucic contract.

I'm not really cheering Tkachuk, but I'll cheer on Brodie, Gio and Bennett to have playoffs success. Any others worth cheering on?

The whole point of the Huberdeau/Tkachuk trade was that they are setup better for the next seven years with all their core guys around 26-27.
|
My point is they won't get back to where they were
92 points is mediocre and no 1st draft picks. Time will tell but I do t think they are setup for anything but the bubble. Get in on fortunate years.
Teams like Buffalo and Detroit are setup much better

GOAT!

Starting on the night of March 10th, Tkachuk put up 27 points in 16 games (up to and including his 0 point night in their last game) to literally drag them into the playoffs.
12 goals, 15 assists, 27 points when his team needed him the most.
Florida's final game of the season is HUGE. They need 2 points in order to pass NYI and avoid BOS in the first round. Best part: the game is against CAR - they same team they'll face if they win.

Detroit and Buffalo? Detroit is just a bad team and Buffalo isn't much ahead. These are the teams everyone wants to be playing and don't even take seriously. How many collapses is this in a row for Buffalo late in the season? Sure they have some pieces but...
