I kind of get it in certain situations; if you're wearing one on transit it's just sensible. But it's pretty uncommon to see people masked at this point.

Just for the record if you had to wear a N95 for 12 hours straight you would quickly change your mind.
I am not as concerned about wearing a mask as frankly there hasn't been an ICU patient with COVID as a primary diagnosis in a long time. At least in the ICU I work in.
As for wearing masks everywhere, I will support that if the numbers indicate doing so. That isn't the case right now though. It isn't about being bored of it, it is about listening to the science.

Well, some people have health issues and don't have a lot of good choices, some maybe be getting over a sickness, or protecting vulnerable people they need to visit, and some may still need them for their jobs. I don't think it's that rare to see them.

I have though, and consistently wear mine at work for 9 hours. 13 hour flight coming up and that sucker is staying on. It's not a big deal to me. YMMV I guess. And for patients coming into a clinic/hospital wouldn't you rather they have a better mask on?

Lol my aging parents wear masks in malls and public places too. It’s not uncommon.
I’m more surprised that THAT is what someone would immediately comment on out of that tweet.
|
It looked like a staged photo, is why I commented... if it was just a regular press conference and someone managed that careful a composition shooting someone wearing a mask and a lab coat, it certainly looks put on. I don't have any problem with people wearing masks, I just find political fakery eye-roll-worthy, and that's what that looked like to me. Given the context it apparently wasn't what it looked like, so... fine.
Jesus Christ the immediate urge to jump on any comment in here that isn't anti-Smith, even from people who clearly are anti-Smith, is insane. Calm the #### down.

U made a silly comment and got corrected, that's all
It's not a witch hunt. Being a smith hater doesnt give you a free pass to post something dumb, get outta here with that nonsense
Some people just wear masks for personal reasons, or any reason at all. Snarkily calling out someone working at a healthcare facility for wearing a mask and then lashing out when finding out the reason is... something
It's ok to just go woops my bad guys, that was out of pocket

It wasn't dumb; it looked staged. I was "corrected" about the context for the photo by btimbit - which, great, fair enough, makes sense then - at which point Looch City decided to make a bunch of snarky posts repeatedly implying that I'm some sort of convoy supporter for even asking, which is just... being a twat for no good reason.
Seriously, this thread is ####ing ridiculous sometimes. You don't have to trip over yourself to jump down the throat of anyone who says anything that isn't "look how terrible Danielle Smith is".

I mean ur still trying to justify it instead of saying my bad guys, maybe I shouldn't automatically assume performative politicking when I see someone with a mask on and respect people's decisions, all while saying poor me, I DARED post something that wasnt how awful danielle smith and that's why I'm being piled on

Nah youre right man, I was lying. It's because you didnt specifically call out danielle smith in your post, not the fact that you posted a criticism for someone wearing a mask
If you would have said: "man this person wearing a mask must be staged. Btw danielle is so ugly the photographer blurred her face out in post production" you would have been fine, but since you didnt the hivemind got an alert to grab their pitchforks

And to be fair I wasn't the first person to say it either (Didn't read the next page after seeing your post) so being 'corrected' multiple times has to be annoying too, haha

Wondering why a medical professional is wearing a mask and someone else getting upset at discussing covid after they brought it up are two wild posts.
