I regularly wear masks in rooms full of strangers still. Why is it a big deal?

The press conference looks to be at a medical facility or something, I suspect she isn't part of the press conference, and saw an opportunity to express what we all feel.

You'd think so, but would you guess in front of MIC?

The press conference was at a medical facility. Most health facilities require their staff to wear masks.
Also, that's a private healthcare facility. A presser at a private facility announcing a commitment to public healthcare.
Who does the optics for these people, Mr. Magoo?

Danielle Smith and her Take Back Alberta masters should go spend a day adventuring around the Tokyo subway system. Cordial, friendly people, mostly all masked up in public, to ensure they're protecting others around them for the respect and empathy of society. No patriotic flags anywhere, no threats of violence, no sweat smell, no Oakleys, no Monster energy drinks... just well dressed people doing their part for the betterment of public safety.
DS would spontaneously combust and burn up from such a prison-like, freedom-less system and people's appalling, sympathetic behaviour.

Masks should be de rigueur in all medical facilities permanently.

N95 masks should be, crazy that at medical facilities they try to get you to remove a well fitting N95 for a simple blue one.

People basically wear gigantic masks over the crotches (and asses) each and every day to prevent vile #### from spewing out, so I'm not sure why it's suddenly a problem when it's on their face - another potential source of vile ####, possibly even more vile.

mixed feelings on this (as someone who still dutifully wears one)
would depend on the context /setting

No, it's just weird that someone would be wearing one at a press conference at this point, for any other reason than to make a political statement or pose for a staged photo... except that this press conference is at a medical facility, in which context it actually does makes sense.

I've had a number of friends and contacts who were all banging pots and pans at 7pm in 2020 who then were full on nutty by the end of 2021. Really not sure what happened, but it seems like a decently regular occurrence in my circle

There are plenty of perfectly reasonable reasons someone would be wearing a mask. I hope people aren't thinking like you are every time they see me a mask.

To me it just seems like there are extremists about this on both sides. Some people feel like we should all be wearing masks at this point, and some people think we never should've. Then there are probably about 80-90% of us who are just bored to death of the whole thing.
