Which is all to say that our society is simply designed really poorly for the idea of personal health responsibility.
And that's not even mentioning the insidiousness of our advertising, which is in its bare essence, brain washing.

When you have a whole society based on consumption, it's hard for me to consider it could all be solved by some "personal responsibility".

But governments stepping in to curb these issues ends up cutting into profits.. and god forbid we do that.

Nothing specific in this, but it just looks like Smith and the UCP are going to run an absolutely terrible campaign. I say that mostly because they need to get her away from talking, and that's increasingly difficult at this point. In other elections there were other high profile people in the party they could trot out for policy announcements and things like that, and kind of shelter the leader if they needed to. But they've got no one else to step up and deal with things competently.

The obvious answer would've been Toews (whether you like his politics or not is another matter). He seemed competent and seemed like he could be non-controversial. But of course, he's not running again. So it looks like a steady diet of Smith who just can't keep her foot out of her mouth.

And the saddest thing is, she'll have to be shown to be way worse than this to not be voted in around these parts. Hopefully, the dirt keeps piling up around her.

While the candidate may have received anonymous donations in excess of $50 that does not necessarily equate to any sort of wrongdoing. From what I seen it seems like funds received in excessive of $50 need to either be returned to the contributor, if they can be identified, or given to the Chief Electoral Officer.

I would imagine the "good stuff" is yet to come from the NDP. They must be sitting on some great video clips and such from Smith and there's no way you're putting that out now. They've just got to be sitting on some great stuff, which is the smartest thing to do at this point.

Remember in the 2012 provincial election when Danielle Smith was seen as one of the very few sane voices of reason within her extremist Wild Rose Party, and she had to try to muzzle (unsuccessfully) all the lunatic Lake of Fire candidates during the campaign?

Was behaving (somewhat) sensibly in 2012 just an act to help get her elected, or did she lose her mind and abandon any sense of reason and human decency at some point in the last decade? Was she always a True Believer(tm) and cozying up to the freedumb convoy crowd is her finally taking the mask off and showing us who she really is?

Looking at her past articles(like the cigarette one) she has always had the inability to analyze topics in a logical intelligent way, grasping at fringe "science" and opinions hoping to find an alternative to the narrative of good governance based on established facts and analysis.

The Lake of Fire became a problem for her because she didn't try to muzzle them:

"Mr. Hunsperger understands that the views he expressed were his personal views in the context of him being a pastor and I'm not going to discriminate against anyone."

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...date-1.1136121

Almost overnight the Wildrose showed they were the party people feared they were and that their leader wasn't going to do anything about it.

Danielle Smith did a "Public Healthcare Guarantee" press conference a la Jason Kenney promising not to tamper with public healthcare. We all know how good their word is on this stuff.

This picture is just awesome.
