That's kinda fair, as a couple pitches were close. It's a long season though, and you'd hope he's just building a good eye. He could chase a bit but that would bring bad habits, so I'm pleased to see him take one. Like others said, you have to have a good bat following up behind him. I like Kirk high up, but he looks a bit heavier this year.

Yeah, and I think you're referring to a specific at bat in St Louis. And I don't disagree with your point.
However, he had a tendency to chase last year, and he needs to show the league that he is going to be more selective.
Baseball is very much about playing the long game

Swapping Bichette and Varsho in the order makes so much sense. I don’t know if they’ll do it but I hope they’d consider it. Varsho isn’t a contact hitter and while he had 27 home runs, he isn’t really a traditional bopper.

Bigger problem than Vladdy walking with runners on base is guys having unproductive outs with runners on base, like Springer just did.

He also has pressure on him, having just signed a nice contract - I don't think it's fair to have him batting 4th right now. Kirk is a smart hitter and could be 4th. Or switch Bo and Vladdy, as you said

So if Springer had gotten aboard, and then Bo does that, it's what? 9-8?

Very underwhelming game.
Don't want this to snowball. Need Kikuchi to have a good outing and the bats to gets going tomorrow night to stop the bleeding.

Can’t believe I’m excited for a Kikuchi start, but after this hot garbage to start the season he literally can’t be worse.
Hope that awesome spring translates to some real results. We need him

One of my buddies keeps saying the Jays need to trade Vladdy for arms
Another one says it's Vladdy's last year anyways
I say Vladdy isn't going anywhere cuz no teams can even talk to him until 2026, correct?
Now that being said is a trade something that could happen with Vladdy? How would a trade involving him work?

Problem with dealing Vlad is he’s the best chance player of playing his whole career here as he was more or less raised in Canada. If there’s something the Jays see in his long term projection and they need to deal him they could get a haul. But they don’t need to deal a franchise talent for just pitching. They could’ve just signed pitching this off-season.

The one guy keeps trying to tell me that no way Jays will buck up to pay Vladdy what he deserves to get paid.

That’s an issue for 3 years from now
Zero chance the Jays trade Vladdy , especially for an arm
We have signed 4 SPs (5 if including Ryu) to big money deals to fill out the rotation . It is what it is

I think they will, but we'll see.
As for trading him, the problem I have with that is that he has unlimited upside. I don't like trading guys that have tons of untapped potential, because the guys you get back probably don't have that same upside.
Vladdy will win some batting titles in the years ahead. Why on earth would people want to trade him? Fans can be so impatient.

Yup. And if they keep failing at that, then it's time to replace the scouts or the pitching coaches (or both).
But the answer is definitely not to trade your best player for more arms.
