Yeesh...no, altitude acclimatization is not the reason for Huberdeau's poor play. The adjustment period initially is 1-3 days for normal activity, and anywhere from 14-20 days for athletics.
If Toffoli didn't look right last year, it's because he wasn't in good shape. The clubs and endless opportunities for poutine in Montreal will do that to someone.
Huberdeau likely wasn't in top shape to start the year either. Florida played a high-tempo game, but it wasn't like they played a physical game or put energy into defending. All that takes fitness, and it's clear that Huberdeau wasn't ready for the Sutter style of game to start the year.
To his credit, since about game 30 or so, Huberdeau has looked physically capable of handling the pace that Sutter demands, which is about how long it took Toffoli, Tkachuk, Gaudreau, and anyone else that I can remember.
But enough derailment. It's great to see Toffoli's season unfold. I was told by some posters that he was a waste of a contract and the assets we traded to get him. It was silly then and it looks downright moronic now.
It's also why you should never count out guys who have proven in the past that they can produce at a high level. So for all you Huberdeau haters out there, you best come correct.

Toffoli also played into July which is a much different turnaround. I think not being in shape and tired from the playoffs going so late played a part in him looking gassed.
Sucks a great year like this is going to waste.

And Calgary is only 3000 feet. If Everest climbers used this excuse, they would need to stay at base camp for about 10 years.
If Huberdeau is not in shape, it’s not altitude related.

Either way next year could be better. See Toffoli.

Often at the draft you see trades and think that's all it took to get that guy....at the deadline it can be they got that for that guy. Not always the case like Hamonic or Camalleri where the team doesn't sell a guy they should.

Only if the Flames are well and truly out of contention, which they won’t be. Do you honestly think they would trade Toffoli or Lindholm at the deadline if they are within sniffing range of the playoffs? Never going to happen.
Sadly, I can see TT and some other players walking at end of next year with nothing to show for it except cap space to load up on free agents again. I’d like to think that after the Gaudreau fiasco they will be smarter but I guess we’ll see.
If they don’t think they can sign TT or Lindholm they should trade them before the season and start a rebuild. I think they need a new GM to come in and shake things up. Not because I think Treliving is bad, but he has run his course here and no longer has a good trajectory.

Success under Sutter is probably correlated to how hard you work. Like Rhett was saying on After Burner, Sutter can be a prick and you can hate him, but it isn't an excuse for under performing.

You dont Give Toffoli a new deal. If you're keeping Lindholm hes going to want full term. This team cant afford to pay guys that old big money like they have won 3 cups with this team.

It's funny that this came true but that it had exactly 0% to do with playing with Huberdeau.
