The save % around the league is pretty crap the fact two playoff teams ahead of us have a worse save % is telling.
Not only that Sutter has always preached goals against, and it went from winning the Jennings to climbing in your own division. Well we have the 2nd best goals against in the division and sit outside of the playoffs.
So yes the goaltending has not be great, but other teams are getting by. Is that they are adapting to the changing times when the league is full of talent and scoring is going up and Sutter is trying to stay true to his methods that worked in 2012 and 2014?
We are 3rd last in goals for in the division.
The league looks to be shifting to a more goal driven league.

Even the best defensive structures are still going to allow a few grade A scoring chances in a game. You are rarely ever going to completely prevent a team from getting chances. Your goalie needs to be able to save more than 50% of those, but it seems like if it is a grade A chance, it usually ends up in the back of the net.

Like the fact that this has to be explained is striking. I cannot remember a game where I havent seen odd man rushes or breakaways. It literally happens all the time.

Literally 1 year out from having scored the 6th most goals in the NHL.

This might be a bit rammy but if I was Dustin Wolf, and I was not guaranteed a chance to play with the Flames next season, basically, I would demand a trade.
Gotta capitalize on your chance to make millions when you can. If next season is less than stellar, he is risking a lot by not emerging into the NHL at this time.

Sutter wins his first Jack Adams nine months ago and fans are ready to run him out of town? Mind boggling.

Pretty elite company, really.

Is there a secondary playoffs I'm unaware of for teams with sweet advanced stats?
Reading this site you'd think it's what matters the most.

Taking a while to get to 5000

If the Flames move on and make a coaching change I'd have to assume it will be an inexpensive one considering the money left owing to Darryl and any other previous coaching expenses that just came off the books (Peters, Ward etc)
So, Mitch Love it is. Which may be the best thing for the Flames. Who knows.

Eric Francis on the big show yesterday. Pretty interesting, but juicier bits start around 7:30. He knows more than he is saying.

Sutter should make a deal with the players. If they make the playoffs, he steps down after next season and forgoes the following season. If they win the Cup, he retires immediately. Maybe that will motivate them.

This is interesting. To further the point, look at goal differential. The west playoff and wildcard teams all have at least a +15.
Vegas and Edmonton are +35 and +40.
Scoring makes up for a lot of deficiencies.
Flames have a +5.

Francis also inferred that ownership is learning (i.e. wouldn't spend a lot on a coach before, now spending it on Sutter). He mentioned that they wouldn't retool/rebuild, but wondering if they are realizing now that the way to a Stanley Cup is through the draft (tanking).
Should be an interesting off season!

No, but the fact it happens every game does. Go back and read any GT and you will see comments about it. Fancy stats don't tell the story most of the time. If you have not seen this happen game in and game out you are obviously not watching and are talking out of your ass.

One thing I do hope happens is that if the Flames do decide to commit to a rebuild, people still buy tickets and support the team.
Fans gotta do their part too and that's often not talked about.

It happens a lot with this team, way more than the norm. The team has talked about it, Sutter has talked about it, Steinberg and the media have talked about it, the board has talked about it. Yet you are right because fancy stats.

Well, Treliving's contract is up. It's a crossroads no matter what.
