I rewatched it recently and there are definitely some jokes or even entire episode themes that would be considered super offensive by today’s standards, so I understand them throwing a warning on it for someone who… randomly stumbles on Seinfeld and has never seen it before? or something?
Those episodes are still super funny though. It’s just very “of the 90s” in terms of views.
I’ve just finished watching the entire series with my 18 yr old son on Netflix. There are some episodes that would fall foul of the advancing sterilisation of comedy these days.
Because people are infants who can't figure out how to change the channel without first writing a sternly worded letteran indignant e-maila passive-aggressive tweet.
Does this apply to people who get similarly bent out of shape by a warning that precedes an episode and post messages complaining about said warning instead of pressing the +15s skip ahead button?

... they said, conveniently forgetting the title of the thread they were in.

... they said, conveniently forgetting that we can can discuss the legitimacy of the gear grinder. I mean, Cecil still hasn't clarified what the problem is. Is it just not knowing what the warning is for, or that it exists at all and that offends him?
Right now, it looks like a gear grinder about nothing, maybe apropos for a Seinfeld related GG.

TV shows continue to get shorter and shorter. An hour show is what, 42 - 45 minutes of actual running time?
There’s enough time-wasting crap in the form of advertising without adding content warnings that serve zero actual purpose.
How long is a content warning? Five seconds? Syndication already cuts minutes off the original run time in some cases (for more advertising) I doubt that's a big issue. If it is an issue it's one someone would have to search for (as you did). If you want to watch the original Seinfled you can easily watch the entire series, on Netflix, without a warning.
I prefer the South Park type of disclaimer, but I guess what Survivorman said makes sense. Let the lawyers have their 5 second message so hopefully the network picks less fights with you over other stuff

I don’t know… maybe. There are more than a couple offensive episodes (but again, I personally thought they were still super funny, you can just recognize ones that people would take issue with out of context) but I also think there’s comedians that get away with the same or worse today.
I think a bigger problem in comedy that I’ve noticed lately is that a lot of comedians (especially older ones) are building entire sets that mostly just complain about cancel culture and what they can’t say, and then they say it anyway, but it’s not very funny because it comes off like they’re trying to be offensive. A lot of younger comedians are able to land offensive jokes because they don’t have 20 minutes of set up about how cancelled they are and then use a 30 year old stereotype as the punchline.
I think you could still do Seinfeld today in context. Always Sunny is probably worse and they’re still going.
There’s no words for my level of disdain for the guys who drive jacked up megacab dodge trucks. They’re ####ing all the same, with #### sounding exhaust running remote start for 15 minutes because their poseur ass needs let the whole neighborhood know that they do, in fact, have a DIESEL TRUCKKKKKK. Invariably with some gaudy-ass aftermarket parts catalogue whoring and some goofball decal identifying the owner as a ####ing imbecile.

It’s satire, Seinfeld and friends aren’t supposed to be great or even good people. As such, some of the antics they get into can either be seen as racist or are just racist.
Kramer causing a riot because he stomped on a Puerto Rico flag (not sure if they even show this episode anymore because of the backlash even when it aired), George stopping random Black people to pretend to be his friend so he isn’t seen as racist, Jerry trying to get with an Indigenous woman but first having to try to say he wasn’t being racist with his racist antics, Babu. There’s a lot. Again it’s satire, we’re supposed to cringe at their unawareness and it isn’t just “haha it’s funny because it’s racist” but I think a 2 second warning isn’t the worst thing in the world.
P.S. I don’t think I know the last time I watched a show on actual cable so I’m not sure if there’s a lot of shows getting disclaimers but I remember all the “offensive” shows (like Southpark) having them anyways.
I also wonder if Mike Richards being a straight up racist in real life had an affect.
Him mocking Indigenous people by making the stereotypical war cry was “funny” not just because it was a different time but because Kramer was seen as aloof but not malicious it was just a faux pas at the time.
But now a racist actor portraying a character with racist characteristics hits a bit closer to home.
