CTV airs Seinfeld with a racial/cultural sensitivity warning now and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.

Now? For the last 3 years according to a Google search.

I rewatched it recently and there are definitely some jokes or even entire episode themes that would be considered super offensive by today’s standards, so I understand them throwing a warning on it for someone who… randomly stumbles on Seinfeld and has never seen it before? or something?

Those episodes are still super funny though. It’s just very “of the 90s” in terms of views.

What is your question though and why is it a gear grinder? That they put these warnings on at all? That it’s on Seinfeld? That it was applied to the particular Seinfeld you watched, but since you didn’t tell anybody which episode it is, who can say why it may warrant or not warrant that warning.

What does it being that way for 3 years have anything to do with it?

Meh. I don't think Seinfeld ever did anything super offensive. Mildly offensive at best and certainly not enough to warrant a warning about racism and cultural sensitivity.

That's not racist or culturally insensitive though now is it? It's gross and the whole episode is about how he's gross for doing it.

There is “Cigar Store Indian” which could be perceived as mocking those sensitivities at the expense of Native Americans for laughs.

Well, cause you made it sound like it was something new. Pretty much every episode that was on CTV’s 90s and 80s sitcom section also has those warnings.

If it’s funny, it’s offensive to someone.

The Fitted King Size Bed Sheet is the most evil thing there is. I've suggested to the wife that it be washed and dried independently of every other sheet as it would be more efficient. Yet again I'm untangling all the other damp sheets it consumed and didn't dry properly to run again.

As for Seinfeld...not sure how Kramer ordering Cubans that turned out to be people from the Dominican Republic would resonate today. Or having a bunch of Asian people sleeping in his dresser. I'm a terrible person. I still watch and snicker at those episodes. There was another where got mixed up with the Puerto Rican flag that wss mildly controversial at the time.

you don't actually try to fold that spawn of satan do you?? my wife learned a long time ago that one set of sheets per bed was lots... wash them, dry them, put them back on the bed - then you never have to try to (unsuccessfully) fold the fitted sheet!

Because people are infants who can't figure out how to change the channel without first writing a sternly worded letter an indignant e-mail a passive-aggressive tweet.
