I’ve been watching Stecher a little closer the last few games. I think he was a great pickup.
Solid skater, pretty good hands, plays bigger than he is, very good on puck battles. Upgrade over Stone and Gilbert.

I was hoping we would sign him as UFA when Detroit did in 2020. Though he is cheaper this year. Probably would have a $4x4 in Columbus this year otherwise.

I didn’t like this pick-up when the trade went down, but I like it now. His size isn’t much of a detriment, and he’s solid in all areas. Good puck mover. I like Gilbert, and I can’t help feeling bad for him.
I’ve always liked Nick Ritchie, but as I said when we aquired him- he constantly needs his butt kicked to stay motivated.

Stetcher has been really solid, but seems Ritchie takes 1-2 dumb penalties every game he plays.

Stetcher is doing well, if this is an audition for next year. Ritchie is a kind of dime-a-dozen bog fourth line guy. If they sign him for buriable money fine, if not, there’s plenty more where he came from.

Don't think the Flames have the cap space next year to waste on Ritchie. Stecher, maybe. There's probably a spot for him at less than he's making this year. Save your money on Ritchie though, Flames. You'll need it.

Stecher is an upgrade on the #6 D spot and it was badly needed.
I prefer the other Ritchie though.
Ideally neither are back next year and the organization finds some depth internally.

If they have to (you just know that they will go the free agency route for depth despite being burned by Rooney) bring a Ritchie back next season I would prefer Brett as IMO he's the better overall player.
