I mean, for a guy like him, what's his downside to doing whatever the hell he wants. He's happy on the ranch if they want to pay him to go there. He's not married to the game like some coaches.

I don't mind the lines one bit. Backlund is out best forward most nights so why not play Huberdeau with him. Everyone has been raving for the last week or more that Kadri-Huby is a fireable offense, and now they are apart. Fair enough. Plus, it is an easy switch to Huby-Lindy-Toff if necessary.

I also don't mind Backlund-Huberdeau as far as that goes. Backlund likes to carry the puck and he also passes the puck more than Kadri.

Mangiapane Lindholm Toffoli - three shooters on one line. Could be worse but Huberdeau makes a lot more sense here.
Huberdeau Backlund Coleman - this again. Best playmaker with two non finishers. Had one line that dominated play consistently and it's gone now
Lucic Kadri Lewis - absolute dumpster fire.
Ritchie Ruzicka Dube - Holy hell is Dube gonna have to do a lot of skating out there. Two big guys that don't bring it enough.

I don't think I could make a line up I liked less without playing guys out of position.

It really is baffling. Even if you're a little miffed by Kadri's play for some reason you could have the lines be something like:

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Pellettier - Backlund - Coleman
Dube - Ruzicka - Toffoli
Ritchie - Kadri - Duerr
