Huby is the worst franchise forward this team has ever had. Forwards that have outplayed Huby this year:
Backlund
Kadri
Lindholm
Tofi
Pelletier
Coleman
Dube
Mangiapane
He's actually be the worst top-9 player on this team.

Yikes. That was a snooze fest. No energy on the ice or in the building.

I don't buy that Sutter has coached well this season. Huberdeau, Kadri, Lindholm, and Mangiapane are all established players who are performing way below expectation this year. Outside of Backlund, those are the four most important forwards on the team. Maybe Mangiapane was a one year wonder but the others aren't, so I don't buy that the coaches have made the right adjustments and pushed the right buttons this year.
Being a legendary coach comes with expectations too and having so many key players have a terrible season in the same year shouldn't be acceptable. There's enough blame to go around for everyone.

If players turned Sutter down, those players need to be scratched and traded away during off-season.
These top players think they are skilled players and doesn't really play hard. Nobody wins the puck battle, no body wants to stand in front of goalie, and nobody goes hard areas.
May be it's time to find new GM, and start thinking about next season.
Change those crybabies and shift them out.

Most of the other guys are doing (at worst) fine under Sutter. Some are doing well.
Gaudreau and Tkachuk “overcame” the hardship of having Sutter as a coach (Gaudreau produced far more under him, Tkachuk is just 10 points ahead of where he was last year).
Why is it Sutter’s fault that Huberdeau sucks? Why is the assumption that he’s a prick who doesn’t motivate him and not that Huberdeau just… sucks?
He’s going to be paid $10M. They should be able to put a literal donkey behind the bench and Huberdeau should put up 80 points. He’s a professional, no? This is his job.

This is a season long issue....not the last 3 games issue.
The only "joke" is defending the indefensible season long dearth of quality starts.
As good as Markstrom has been of late and the little run Vladar went on earlier in the year, they are, by far, the biggest issue as to why this club is where it is.
The numbers above aren't made up.

Missed the game. Sounds like it's lucky I did. The one yhing that is strange to me is that the team is built to play off of transition and rush the net, but we dump and chase, and play a perimeter game.

Yeah tonight's game when they are already pretty much out of it
Flames would be sitting pretty if they had average goaltending this season...they played bad tonight, goaltending alone has cost them 8-10 games and that isn't even an exaggeration.

Huderdeau has PeeWee hockey IQ. He skates the puck into traffic and passes blindly into the center of the ice. Not a leader, not a guy who gives the team life. Not a big game player. Not worth 10.5 Million.

Well in the 5 seasons that Huberdeau played in Florida before coming here he played for three other coaches (Boughner, Quenneville, and Brunette) and he didn't suck for them. If he sucks why didn't he suck before?

This is a thread related to the actual game, where that narrative has sweet #### all to do with the events on the ice tonight
Way to focus

The game meaning nothing has a lot to do with the events on the ice...and a lot to do with the situation they find themselves in mostly because of goaltending
The point was that the Wild score even less than the Flames but they are in a divisional playoff spot because they have gotten saves consitently

Yeah this dumb narrative that Huberdeau had one good fluke season is just that...dumb
He scored more than Guadreau and Tkachuk in the last 5 seasons he didn't suddenly forget how to play.
Speaking of Gaudreau he has 55 points and is -24...players have to be put in the right situation to succeed. Just saying you make lots of money so go do it doesn't really help anyone.

Its simple, he got his pay day, and took his foot off the gas. Not to mention that historically offensive players points decline after 27 years old, and basically drop off after 30. Its a bad contract. No one would complain if he were paid what he is worth.

Yeah. The Flames got shut out tonight
That’s to do with the shots they take that are easy to save
If you don’t get it from watching the game, and want to instead look at the season, I suggest you look at the murderer’s row of rookies, backups, and first start NHlers that they have made look like goaltending geniuses
Pretty ####ing bleak

Darryl Sutter has to be fired this team looked like the team in game 7 vs Anaheim that got humiliated on home ice.
Sutter himself quit because he knew he wasn't the gut luckily he had a GM role to fall back on.

At the end of the day, the Flames committed the money they did into Huby. You gotta find a way to get the best out of him because his contract is not going to be easy to move out. You very well could be right and the guy is just cruising along collecting his paycheck. But the guy was a point a game player the last five seasons before this one and now he suddenly is struggling to score. I don’t think that’s a coincidence

Hard to say. Maybe the trade or the pressure of an all-star contract mentally screwed him up. Maybe he and Sutter don’t jive at all for whatever reason. But if that’s the case and he’s unique in that regard, whose job is it to figure it out? The coach that is getting the best out of most of the team? Or the star player that’s giving third liner quality when we’re lucky?
Sutter has played him with 85% of the forwards on the team and every time Huberdeau doesn’t produce with guys it’s Sutter’s fault for playing him with those guys. I’ll ask again: what exactly does Huberdeau need to figure it out? Should we go out and trade players until we get ones he likes? Or cycle through coaches until we find one he likes? He’s not McDavid.

They have still scored more goals than a divisional playoff team that got saves all year. Average goaltending and they would be well in despite everything else...at some point the frustration is just too much.
I mean they dominated a historically good team a few days ago and lost on 2 soft goals
