For a supposed tough team to play against, they certainly play one of the most perimeter style of play in the conference. There is not one player who drives or stations themselves near the net like Chucky did. Not even close. Not to mention the elite hands around the net. Huge difference last year for success in both the initial screened shot and any potential rebound.

If the 1st line can’t do anything with 14 minutes why should they get 20?

Huberdeau has played with Lindholm, Toffoli, Kadri, Lucic, Backlund, Coleman, Pelletier, Lewis and Mangiapane. Should Sutter just keep switching all the lines around until he finds someone he likes? Should we just start trading everyone because nobody is good enough to receive the incredible generational passes of Jonathan Huberdeau?

I don’t think it’s too wild to blame the players.

Garbage team is garbage. Not even remotely competitive. Sad.

Blame them all you want, then what?

Great time of the season for a 5 game losing streak. Really showing what you’re made of, guys. There is plenty of blame/responsibility to go around, but this abject failure of a season is on the players, and more specifically the “core” players.

It really doesn't seem like there is any humility. He might be very different away from the cameras but I genuinely do not think he is in a position to talk about how he would be booing the top paid players in press conferences. I'm pretty shocked. It feels like we're heading to him getting locked out by the players like happened in LA.

Guess they’ll have to figure it out.

Hope it’s not too much to ask a $10M player to do.

Might as well start training camp for next year.

Give zary and wolf a number of games but send them back down for a cup run.

Bring Coronado in when his season is done.

Figure out who is in next years plan and who isn’t.

Decide if you have the right coach for these players.

We've only got 2 more call ups for the remainder of the season. Be interesting if we use them once we're finally out (and who starts going for season ending surgery)

There is no point discussing anything with you. You're going to be a contrarian twat just for the sake of it that's your entire existence.

For the rest of CP, it's clear the players are extremely miserable Darryl is a big part of that.

Look. Huberdeau has been a massive disappointment. No way around that. But if I worked for someone who was a prick and didn’t do all that much to motivate me, I’d probably have trouble performing better too. I want to see how he does under a different coach before giving up on him

It was only for 3 shifts at the end of the game. They looked pretty good.

Meanwhile, the Kadri line with Mangiapane was on the ice when Minnesota got their two goals.

Huberdeau has gone from a 115 point player to maybe 50 points this season.

Think we’re going to see minor tinkering playerwise this offseason.

But management and coaching staff might be a different story.

That's not how the Flames operate.

Instead, they will give Zary and Wolf a couple games in the pre-season when the veterans are taking the night off, against the opposition's A squad, and call it an opportunity.

This is no good. It's Gulutzan hockey, stationary winger at the blue line accepts hot-potato pass from defenceman and chips it.... nowhere.

Awful.

Like the broadcast crew said, these are two mediocre teams, and the difference in standings is Minnesota has won a pile of OT stuff and Calgary has lost a pile of OT stuff. Coaching is a big deal here.

But talent is probably the real issue, and it's a mid grade team and there's no magic-bullet type answers. Probably doesn't matter a ton who the coach is, although you get the feeling the players are not that happy with the current system or coaching message.

Is this a joke? After watching tonight’s game?

The Flames attention to detail in a tight game wasn’t good.

Lindholm could get under that stick, Hanifin shouldn’t cough it up

And, of course, the Flames should have put a puck off the top of the back bar of the net, and off of Gustafson’s back

The Flames got their 30 shots but the tough ones were in to the goalie

Sorry, man

This is a very talented team, every expert had them highly regarded before the season. The problem is the coach. Yes, I think when he came in it was a good thing because he taught them some things to be better and how to win but his style simply doesn't fit this roster at all and the players are miserable playing for him. I think how much they put into tonight was a clear sign they are not happy and they are not going to the wall for this coach. Give Sutter the rest of the year and then give him his walking papers. His low danger point shot system doesn't work with this roster, he has lost the players, nobody is happy playing for him, and many of his decisions behind the bench are simply baffling. This team is built to be an offensive skill team, not the garbage he has them playing. He has to go.
