Sounds right. If this management team really was hand wringing over whether to be buyers or sellers until just last night while watching this win one lose one team all season it makes sense. Analysis paralysis isn’t just for fans

I don't think they could trade them without giving up significant assets to entice others to take them.

I think Kadri is more tradeable than Huby atm

I just find it wild that a team built under a “win now” mindset, and is not in fact actually winning, is going to stay the course with the current roster in hopes of winning.

Kadri is 32? Huberdeau is going to make 10.5M coming off a 60pt season

They have negative values

Flames are the only team to not make a trade this season at this point.

I can see the flames doing Trevor Lewis for a 7th, and announced half an hour after the deadline.

And that's all there is.

I would disagree. I just don't think you'd back any significant assets, so it would make the Tkachuk trade look like a loss. That's the sunk cost fallacy at work.

Is Huberdeau really going to set the record for biggest point drop off in a season?

Triggered? Please.

I’m not the one who has created his own thread about the GM and has bumped it repeatedly over the years as though it actually means anything. Surprised you haven’t bumped it again, but I’m sure you’ll have something special to share latter on today. You’ve been whining for years about this.

What is dumb is complaining, incessantly, about the state of the organization and not even know where the criticism belongs. It’s not Treliving, it’s the owners.

Don't like that Lindholm's name coming up. You don't trade for or draft a better center unless you get a top 5 pick. While he's not 'elite' he's a top 20 centre in the league. The perfect guy to replace Backlund down the lineup.

Makes me think Flames don't believe he's going to want to re-sign.

I can't even think of a team that would have the cap space and be in a window to contend to want to take on either player.

Want him or not, they are stuck here unless the Flames make them attractive.

“something unexpected” feels painfully like a guy promoting trade deadline day on a sports network he works for. It honestly feels like he said that knowing there is very little left to trade and all the big moves are done. I could be wrong but it’s not like he would openly say “I have a feeling nothing exciting is left to happen on trade deadline day. Won’t be much left to see.” He’s just not allowed to downplay trade deadline day at this point.

I’m still hoping backlund to Carolina. Carolina wants a centre to play with necas. Yes losing backlund sucks , but the reality is he will be 35 when an extension contract kicks in.

Assuming that we can sign Lindholm in the future, I think you only trade him for a massive haul considering his current contract. No need to do a trade for the sake of it.

He is currently on pace for 53 points.

Considering the premium ice time plus PP time he gets, that's an horrendous level of production.

It’s so cute to hear Derek wills talking about how the flames can catch the wild and kings (heck maybe the stars).

What is this idiocy???

Is Tre gonna do a press conference once the deadline ends?

I'm going to be annoyed and disappointed if they do nothing today. Draft picks hold so little value today versus draft day and the Flames are overcommitted on salary for next year. Please be proactive and gain some currency and flexibility for next year. They are going to need to do it anyways, why not now when they can position themselves well for the summer?

Tre with an expiring contract, I guess he just figured he'd take the last 6 months of it off.
